CloverWorks continues to knock it out of the park with their beautiful imagery. They balance comedy & the sheer creepiness of Sadamune. His creepiness adds to the comedy of this episode while also being unsettling at times.

The art style threw me off at times with the exaggerated expressions, but it actually adds to the humor. I also like the random 21st century references in the dialogue. The story seems to slow down a bit, likely setting up a training arc for our young lord.

Sadamune is a total menace! The way they animate his bulging eyes is honestly terrifying but fits the vibe. The archery duel was a visual treat, though the episode felt a bit like a training arc filler at points.

What an opening, definitely sets a rather unsettling tone despite the ammount of lighthearted and humour we got so far from earlier episodes. Presentation of the main villain of the show is done nicely and as usual the animation never fails to impress.

Coming off episode 3's focus on Tokiyuki beginning his training under Yorishige's guidance, this fourth episode pivots from foundational development into escalation by introducing a major antagonist in Sadamune Ogasawara. It marks the transition point where Tokiyuki's skills stop being abstract potential and start facing real opposition. This directly sets the stage for episode 5's dog-shooting competition arc, where everything established here gets pressure-tested.
