Jinshi is given an impossible mission: find blue roses, flowers that don’t exist, clearly a trap set for his downfall. But Maomao steps in and with pure intelligence, uses science to turn it around and deliver a striking, unforgettable ending.

It was interesting to see the whole process of the white roses growing, all the effort and work Maomao put in alongside Xialoan and those eunuchs, but the ending was expected. The most interesting part was seeing a little more of the new concubine, who remains mysterious.

Blue roses, a type of rose that does not exist in a season where roses don’t bloom. Lakan makes another outrageous request as a provocation, but this time he is met in full force. Not wanting to just run away from him, Maomao takes the challenge, but this time on her own terms.

I swear if Mao didn’t get paid properly after all those efforts, I'm gonna start throwing hands. On the other hand, the conflict got more intense towards the end. Here's to the last 2 episodes 🥂

An overall mediocre episode where we see Maomao persevere on the task given even at the cost of losing sleep. The motivation is not yet clear but I would assume it to be explain for they delivered the attention catching cliffhanger right at the end of the episode.

The pacing in this one makes it a bit slow to get through. However, I know that is only because it is building up into the final two episodes of the season. It gives the feeling that something big is going to happen, and I'm excited to see what that is going to be.

This episode feels more thoughtful, looking back at earlier moments in a subtle way. Maomao keeps things grounded, while Jinshi adds presence. It’s thoughtful without being slow.

This episode was peak Maomao vs.Lakan!Using steam & temperature to force blue looms is 10/10 crazy experiment. However it changed the way I see Lakan onward! Jinshi finally seeing her worth. Pure fire!

This episode changed how I see La Kan. Instead of forcing his presence on Maomao, he hides his care behind political gestures and court intrigue. This episode shows strong character development and layered writing make it a compelling watch.

Seeing Maomao working hard to counter his father's scheme is motivating. Seeing blue roses inspired me to try that method, I also want to see blue roses in person. Haha
Daughter and Father face off preview.

Lakan pulling strings just to mess with Jinshi bruh. Maomao takes on the blue rose challenge and goes full scientist mode. lighter ep but watching her nerd out over botany with the cuteessttt Xiaolan is kinda wholesome.

This episode shows how protective and loving father Lakhan is. I also love how he creates opportunities just to have a moment with Maomao. On the other hand, you can't deny the genes running through Maomao's veins, though.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the emotionally and politically charged events of 'How to Buy Out a Contract,' episode 22 shifts toward showcasing Maomao's ingenuity under pressure while maintaining the interpersonal tension between her, Jinshi, and Lakan. As the third-to-last episode of the season, 'Blue Roses' functions as a pivotal bridge—resolving one thread of challenge while positioning the narrative for the deeper court intrigue and relationship developments explored in 'Rose Balsam and Wood Sorrel' and the finale beyond it.
