Rumors circulate that one of the 3 Princess of the Verdigris House is going to be bought out and said rumor puts Lihaku in disarray. How much it costs to buy a courtesan? And how much confusion will it create when Maomao decides to help him out?

It kinda feels like a filler episode. But it's still fun to watch, and the ending also still connected to the main conflict.

We take break from all the complicated stuff which is well appreciated. I love how they gave even supporting characters their own stories to look forward to as we progress through the plot. The romantic vibe of the episode was well delivered mixed in with humor and great lines.

Getting to learn more about Lihaku was so sweet. I really like his plotline so far, and it makes me root for him a bit more. I love Maomao's unbothered nature about helping people with very personal problems. She really takes everything in stride and it makes her so enjoyable.

The pacing picks up a little, which makes things more exciting. Maomao stays focused, and Jinshi continues to add intrigue. It feels like everything is building up.

The storytelling here feels very precise, like everything is placed carefully. I really love how the episode builds its ideas step by step. Maomao continues to connect things in a way that feels satisfying to follow. The moment where multiple small clues come together is definitely the highlight. It’s that “oh, it all makes sense now” feeling. And it’s done without over-explaining, which I appreciate.

Maomao’s really endearing whenever she geeks out over medicinal plants. And her intrusive thoughts are entertaining haha.

Lihaku has such a gentleman and sincere heart so for sure Maomao will approve of him for her Sister Pairin. She loves pairin, because she was once like a foster mom to her. Ganbatte Lihaku! Jinshi acting so very jealous is so cute and hilarious. Haha
Lakan is plotting something!

breather ep after the intensity of the last few. Lihaku being absolutely down bad for Pairin is kinda endearing. Maomao asking him to strip for assessment purposes is peak comedy and Jinshi walking in on that? 😭 ends on a mysterious note with Lakan lurking again. light ep

Seeing Pairin as the surrogate mom to baby Maomao was wholesome! Also Lihaku trying to buy her contract is a 10/10 subversion! The Go game metaphors for Lakan’s life are peak visual storytelling.

Lakan is finally making his big move and the tension is on all time high. Seeing Maomao’s pure face the moment he’s mentioned is such a mood! The setup for the blue rose challenge feels like the ultimate high-stakes chess match between them.

Sir Lihaku really is serious in courting Big Sis Pairin to the extent of seeking MaoMao’s help to secure the approval of the courtesan. Amidst the political intrigue and court drama, the story transitions to a character-focused episode showing the passion and dedication of Lihaku

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the intense court machinations of 'Thornapple,' episode 21 serves as a deliberate cooldown before the season's final stretch, shifting focus from political danger to personal stakes and character relationships. Sitting at episode 21 of 24, it uses this breathing room to deepen the audience's connection to the supporting cast, particularly Lihaku. The episode bridges directly into 'Blue Roses,' suggesting that the personal threads explored here will weave into the larger narrative as the season approaches its conclusion.
