Secrets of the Silent Witch Episode 7: A Jealous Noblewoman

When the plot asked them to, the writers do write tension in the story really well. From when that tea time scene, to when the prince and Isabelle confronts the trio, the tension felt real. And that scene with Monica's backstory was really sad too. Props to the writers for being able to make the watchers like they're on an emotional rollercoaster. The plot in this episode is fairly simple, but do show us which people are on Monica's side.

The stakes have been risen! Monica getting targeted and something with the events to come. I love that Isabelle is such a ride-or-die!

This is such a step up from ep 6. The tension-building is brilliant, and the combination of signature humour and internal screaming keeps it grounded. The writing lets emotional beats breathe, and the sharp animation makes the panic hit harder.

The episode briefly reveals a glimpse of Monica's tragic backstory but it doesn't provide much additional context or delve deeply into her past. I found myself really annoyed while watching this episode but not because it was bad, it's because the story was so immersive that I couldn't help but get emotionally invested in everything that was happening. The studio also continues to impress with its attention to detail, and the animation and art remain consistently beautiful.

P.S. Kudos to Claudia for thinking on her feet, as well as to the prince and Isabelle for remaining level-headed while resolving the situation surrounding Monica.
