A distant thumping heralds the arrival of Anastasia Hoshin, riding atop Subaru's loyal ground dragon, Patrasche, her lantern cutting a welcome swath through the darkness. She found Patrasche nearby, using the creature to scout for survivors. While Subaru is relieved to see his dragon, the sight of their makeshift team—himself, an injured Ram, and the pragmatic Anastasia—only fuels his anxiety about their lack of combat power and their precarious situation.

As they navigate the sandy corridors, Subaru tries to call upon spirits for guidance, but finds them unnaturally skittish, a consequence of his strong connection with Beatrice. Ram offers a terse explanation, but it is Anastasia who pulls Subaru aside, revealing Ram's barely contained distress before he awoke. This quiet confession burdens Subaru with the unspoken responsibility of being their emotional anchor, a weight he feels even before understanding the true nature of their predicament.

At a seemingly impassable stone wall, Subaru insists it is a door, ignoring Ram and Anastasia's skepticism. With a trembling hand, he touches the cold surface, and the stone erupts in a swirl of bioluminescent colours, revealing intricate runes before dissolving into an open passageway. Subaru is as baffled as his companions, unsure of the power he has just unknowingly wielded. The unexpected revelation raises questions about his connection to this strange place.

Patrasche grows increasingly agitated, nudging Subaru with low growls, sensing danger before the humans. After Subaru inexplicably opens a second hidden door, Anastasia explains the 'shoki,' or miasma, a polluted mana that poisons the mind. She warns of its insidious effects, but Subaru, already feeling a prickling sensation on his skin, dismisses her caution. The air grows heavy, the unseen threat now a palpable presence.

The miasma begins its insidious work. Subaru grows irritable, snapping at Anastasia and Ram, his eyes darting frantically. He batters an unyielding stone wall, screaming in frustration as his sanity frays, then collapses into primal fear when the lantern shatters, plunging them into darkness. His words turn venomous, attacking Ram with accusations of uselessness, culminating in her furious retort about Rem. Lost to hatred, Subaru unleashes 'Invisible Providence,' causing a cave-in, and then, in a terrifying display of madness, strangles Ram, seeing Rem's face in her dying eyes. Subaru 'Returns by Death,' finding himself alone at the cavern fork, a trail of blood leading him down the right path. He discovers Patrasche standing over the mangled corpses of Ram and Anastasia, the loyal ground dragon now a feral beast, its eyes devoid of recognition. Subaru’s loyal companion, corrupted by the miasma, lunges at him, ending his life in a swift, brutal attack. This second death loop reinforces the pervasive, indiscriminate nature of the miasma, sparing no one from its destructive influence.

Subaru wakes again, the phantom pains of his previous deaths still lingering. He forces a cheerful, almost frantic demeanor, determined to prevent the past loops. When Anastasia and Patrasche arrive, he showers them with exaggerated kindness, then intently questions Anastasia about the 'shoki.' Learning of its personality-destroying effects, he vows to himself that he will not let his group fall apart again. He suggests they avoid the strange doors he alone can see.

At the fork, Subaru decisively chooses the left path, actively trying to diverge from the disastrous previous timelines. He maintains his overly cheerful facade, constantly checking on Ram and Anastasia, offering help and making lighthearted jokes, which only makes Ram more suspicious. The path grows more treacherous, and a strange, acrid smell begins to fill the air, accompanied by rising temperatures and a faint orange glow ahead. Patrasche growls, sensing a powerful predator.

Subaru scouts ahead, his heart pounding, and discovers a massive, bowl-shaped depression: a natural colosseum. He slips, tumbling to the bottom, where he finds himself surrounded by hills of bleached bones glowing with a sinister orange light from unseen fires. The intense heat and the macabre landscape confirm his chilling realization: he is in a giant feeding ground, and he is now the prey.

A gargantuan, centaur-like beast emerges from the shadows, its black body adorned with glowing red markings, carrying two lancelike weapons. Subaru is frozen in fear, dwarfed by its overwhelming presence. The creature unleashes deafening shrieks, its strange, skittering gait closing the distance. Trapped, Subaru desperately searches for a weapon among the brittle bones, finding nothing.

Just as the beast lunges, Ram appears, riding Patrasche, and strikes it with a blast of wind magic, knocking it off balance. Patrasche bravely positions itself between Subaru and the monster, its eyes glowing with protective fire. Subaru, in turn, uses 'Invisible Providence' defensively, catching a lance and screaming in pain as blood trickles from his eyes, the mental strain evident. Ram provides covering fire with more spells, but they have little effect.

As the beast prepares a massive attack, its runes flaring, Subaru yells for retreat. Suddenly, a new figure descends from above: Shaula, a woman in an exotic outfit, who effortlessly deflects the beast's attack with a wave of her hand. She then fixes her gaze on Subaru, her face breaking into an ecstatic grin, and bows deeply, proclaiming him her 'Master.'

The episode concludes with a sweeping shot of Shaula on a high balcony of the Watchtower, surrounded by fluttering papers, overlooking the vast, sun-drenched Augria Sand Dunes. Her silhouette is framed by the massive white spires of the tower, underscoring her eternal vigil. The camera pulls back, revealing the daunting scale of the Pleiades Watchtower against the desert horizon, a lonely monument to a centuries-long wait.
