Anastasia Hoshin offers a desperate solution, suggesting an expedition to the Pleiades Watchtower to seek the legendary Sage Shaula. This quest is their last hope for those lost to memory.

The journey begins in a ground dragon carriage, a somber quiet settling over the travelers. Subaru, Emilia, Beatrice, and Anastasia settle in, aware of the immense challenge ahead. Outside, Otto Suwen expresses his deep anxiety to Reinhard van Astrea. Reinhard confirms the dangers, recalling his own failed attempt to reach the Watchtower years prior. The path ahead is not merely long, but guarded by an unknown, unconquerable force.

Back in Priestella, Garfiel Tinsel continues his duties amid the reconstruction. He is approached by the energetic Mimi Pearlbaton, who attempts to lift his spirits. Garfiel, still bearing the weight of recent battles, hesitates before a large set of doors. This brief scene highlights the distributed efforts of the team, with some members taking on separate, vital roles.

Night falls, and a campfire casts flickering shadows as Emilia and Beatrice sleep. Subaru sits alone, his thoughts heavy, until Anastasia joins him. The group makes a stop at the Mathers Mansion, a brief respite before the true peril begins. Roswaal L. Mathers reads a detailed report of the Priestella events, his demeanor as unsettling as ever. He voices concerns about the expedition, casting doubt on the Sage's legendary helpfulness. Despite his ominous tone, Roswaal eventually offers his minimal support. The weight of his cryptic warnings hangs heavy over the departure.

Garfiel enters a cold, stone room where Meili Portroute is confined, surrounded by stuffed animals. He needs her unique and dangerous knowledge of mabeasts to navigate the Augria Sand Dunes. Meili initially scoffs at the request, reminding him of her imprisonment and the dunes' deadly reputation. Yet, under Garfiel's stern insistence, she agrees to guide them, though not without a chilling hint of her 'Mama's' disapproval. Their reluctant alliance is forged out of necessity.

Subaru finds Julius alone, lost in the isolation of being forgotten. Julius speaks of his shattered pride, his sense of uselessness. A side story reveals Garfiel's emotional reunion with Reala, his long-lost mother, who does not recognize him due to memory loss. As Reala comforts him, sensing his profound sadness, Garfiel's tough exterior shatters, and he cries openly in her lap. She treats him as a lost child, urging him to simply cry. As Garfiel leaves, Reala introduces her two new children, Fred and Raphael, names eerily similar to his and Frederica's. This poignant discovery, that fragments of her lost past remained, brings Garfiel a deep sense of peace and renewed determination.
