Queen trying to run away while the two emperors were clashing was so funny, and the way he got tricked by Babanuki on the phone had me laughing at how clueless he is

I couldn't stop grinning when Old Man Hyo introduced those four Yakuza leaders because it finally feels like the resistance has some real weight behind it and seeing everyone recognize Luffy was so cool

The animation for the Kaido and Big Mom fight was absolutely insane because they actually showed the sky splitting apart and the purple lightning everywhere was so cool to see

Zoro and Kawamatsu fighting together at the bridge felt so natural and they just destroyed those pirates with the cannon like it was nothing and Gyukimaru crying was such a heavy moment

gyomei_goliath
the flashback of kawamatsu searching for hiyori in the rain was really sad and it is hard to believe he spent all those years alone just to protect her and the swords

All that cracking ground while Big Mom and Kaido were trading blows looked great and it really sold how much power those two have

When Kaido and Big Mom's haki just *tore* the very clouds apart, I was genuinely speechless at the sheer power, though for a second there, all that purple lightning and those intense auras felt less like One Piece and more like I’d stumbled into another shonen. Still, it was undeniably epic and really drove home the insane strength of these emperors.

I still have goosebumps from that sky splitting open when Kaido and Big Mom finally clashed and the animation was actually incredible for a weekly show

The transition from the world-shaking fight on Onigashima back to the emotional stuff at the bridge worked well and made the episode go by so fast

Kinemon finally getting those blueprints for the mansion is the first time the plan has actually felt real

the transition from the huge fight on onigashima back to the prison felt a bit slow but seeing tama use her dango on babanuki was pretty funny and helpful for the raid

The flashback with young Hiyori and Kawamatsu in the shack was heartbreaking, especially when he lied about not needing rice because he is a kappa

Hearing Hiyori explain why she ran away from Kawamatsu actually made me tear up a bit, and it is so sad that they both spent years feeling guilty for something that was just them trying to protect each other, and I am glad Zoro was there to see it too because he usually does not get involved in the emotional stuff like this

Gyukimaru crying while Zoro and Kawamatsu fought together made the ending feel heavy and it was sad to see him just slip away into the snow

I really felt for Kawamatsu when he was frantically searching for Hiyori in the rain after reading her letter

Tama using those dango to brainwash the prison warden is kind of terrifying if you think about it too much but at least it bought the alliance some time

The flashback showing Kawamatsu starving himself just so Hiyori could eat really got to me and it broke my heart when she left that note and he was just screaming her name in the rain and then seeing them finally reunited at the bridge fighting side by side with Zoro made the whole episode feel so much more meaningful

luffy getting all those yakuza bosses on his side is a big deal but it would have been better to see them do something more than just stand around and talk

The animation for the big fight was great, but the way they stretched out the conversation on the bridge made the middle part of the episode feel a little bit dragged out

Getting those mansion blueprints from Ashura Doji is a huge step for the plan, even if they are still short on weapons for everyone

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep within the Wano Country arc, episode 953 follows a stretch of escalating battles and alliance-building as the Straw Hats and their allies maneuver toward the decisive confrontation with Kaido's forces. Hiyori's confession and the reunion at Bandit's Bridge deepen critical character bonds and fill in narrative gaps that have been building for dozens of episodes. This episode strengthens the emotional foundation the arc will lean on heavily as it barrels toward its climactic war phase.
