Big Mom having those killer eyes while acting like a hungry kid is so creepy and her arriving at the prison is going to be complete chaos

I feel so bad for Old Man Hyo because he was just trying to eat and then those guards started stomping on him and it made my blood boil to see Luffy look that angry

The pacing felt a bit slow with some of the Chopper scenes but the animation during the prison stuff looked great and kept things moving

Luffy giving up those food coupons for Old Man Hyo was such a sweet thing to do and seeing that old guy get beat up after made me so mad
naofumi_naysayer_149's avatar
naofumi_naysayer_149
The bond between Luffy and Old Man Hyo is getting really good because Luffy usually just fights for his friends but here he is protecting a stranger in prison and it reminds me of when he punched the Celestial Dragon back in the day, and seeing Hyo suffer after Luffy gave him those tickets was just heartbreaking to see

Big Mom as Olin is hilarious to me because her face is so ridiculous and her being hungry for soup while walking to the prison is going to be a disaster

Robin feeling bad about not finding enough information was a weird touch and you would think her intelligence gathering would be going smoother

Luffy is getting so buff from all that prison work and you can tell he is about to absolutely wreck those guards for what they did to the old man

The way Luffy looked at the guards at the end was terrifying and you can tell he is about to go off on everyone in that prison

Luffy's eyes at the very end told me everything I needed to know – he's done playing games and I could practically feel his fury radiating off the screen. I actually got chills seeing that look of pure, unyielding determination, and now I'm just buzzing with excitement for him to finally unleash on those awful prison wardens!

My blood was boiling when those guards kept kicking Old Man Hyo, even after Luffy tried to step in. They clearly have no idea what kind of monster they just provoked, and I can't wait for Luffy to absolutely wipe the floor with them.

Sanji is really out here only thinking about the bathhouses while everyone else is fighting for their lives, it makes for a funny contrast with the dark stuff in the prison

I keep thinking about the Hyo theory because he looks like a legend and Luffy better use that Haki soon to help him out
geordo_stuart's avatar

They stretched out the torture scene way too long and it was just depressing to see Hyo get treated like that without Luffy being able to stop it

How did Kid even get out of there while Luffy is still slaving away in the mines and Queen having a billion berry bounty is terrifying

The pacing felt a bit slow today but seeing Queen dance like a maniac made it worth it and Eustass Kid escaping while Luffy is stuck there is a huge surprise

When those guards started beating Old Man Hyo just because he had food, I immediately felt this intense surge of anger, like how dare they?! Knowing Luffy, that sight's gonna set off his fuse big time, and I can't wait to see him utterly demolish those guys for it. It really made me think of how he protected Granny Kokoro back in Water 7 too.

This episode felt like it only adapted a few pages because everything moved so slow in the prison and the padding is getting a bit much and the story needs to actually move

the way big mom and her group are getting closer to the prison while luffy is losing his mind over hyo getting hurt is making the tension so much worse

My heart really broke when they started kicking Hyo just because Luffy tried to be nice and Queen is such a weirdo for a commander

EPISODE CONTEXT

Situated deep within the Wano Country Arc, Episode 929 pivots away from the political intrigue of the Flower Capital explored in Episode 928 and refocuses on Luffy's imprisonment in Udon — a critical subplot running parallel to the alliance's rebellion plans against Kaido. This episode establishes the Luffy-Hyogoro relationship as a foundational element, laying groundwork for the prison break narrative and Luffy's power development that will escalate in the episodes ahead. It's a setup-heavy chapter that rewards patience by deepening the stakes of the broader Wano conflict.
