When Luffy finally started seeing ahead like Katakuri, I was so hyped, thinking he really just leveled up his Observation Haki in the middle of battle; it's insane to watch him evolve so fast against such a strong opponent.

You could really feel the impact of that final clash, especially with the way the colors changed and the ground just gave way beneath them

I really liked the transition from the black and white sketch style during the big hits to the full color chaos and it made that entire finishing sequence feel so much more impactful

You can tell the animators put everything they had into that final exchange because the fluid movement of the rubber arms was really expressive

I was actually worried about the pacing when they started the Rayleigh flashbacks again, but seeing Luffy land that Black Mamba hit made the wait worth it. The way the animation gets all loose and sketchy during the biggest impacts is so much better than the usual style, and it really sold how much power was behind those Snakeman strikes

Snakeman looks so much cooler than Boundman and those punches changing direction are crazy

Luffy and Katakuri just trading hits at the very end while the music kicked in made that King Cobra move look absolutely brutal

Katakuri looked so frustrated trying to use his future sight against the culverin and I was smiling the whole time because he finally could not predict those angles

Watching Luffy punch at angles Katakuri couldn't predict even with his future sight made that whole tactical back and forth feel way more intense than a normal brawl

I felt a massive weight lift off my shoulders when Katakuri finally hit the floor because that fight was getting so brutal

The leaner design for this gear four form fits the atmosphere of this specific duel perfectly and it makes the boundman version look bulky in comparison

The way the smoke moved around Luffy when he finally transformed looked so smooth and seeing Rayleigh for a second in that flashback made the whole Haki struggle feel earned

I have been waiting for Snakeman to finally show up and it honestly looked better than I imagined in my head. The way his arms just kept accelerating and curving mid-air to catch Katakuri off guard was so cool to see animated. Katakuri really didn't back down either and seeing him adapt with that spinning mochi attack kept me stressed.

Katakuri using Buzzcut Mochi and spinning like a saw blade actually felt terrifying because Luffy looked like he was barely keeping up even in his new form

You see the smoke turning into a snake around Luffy and it feels like the whole tone of the fight shifted to something way more aggressive

I cannot believe how fast Snakeman actually looks on screen and those punches changing directions mid air really caught me off guard

Those smear frames when Luffy and Katakuri were trading blows at the very end made the speed feel so much more intense than the manga version

It was great to see Katakuri start to respect Luffy by the end of their clash because it made the final exchange feel much heavier

Katakuri still looking so calm while Luffy is bouncing his arms off every wall is really cool and they both look like they respect each other

Katakuri turning the floor into mochi and smashing Luffy around made the scale of their power feel massive and it was great seeing Luffy finally land a solid hit

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode continues the escalating climactic battle that ramped up significantly in Episode 869, pushing Luffy to reveal new combat capabilities as the conflict reaches a critical breaking point. It serves as the bridge between the initial intensity of the clash and the promised climax in Episode 871, making it an essential piece of the arc's final stretch. Skipping this one means missing a key power evolution moment that carries weight going forward.
