The sound design on that final blast was so crisp and you could really feel the speed of Luffy dodging those strings before he landed the hit that blew up half the mountain

It is wild that Gear Fourth is so powerful but drains his Haki that fast, and now Luffy is just a sitting duck while Doflamingo is still conscious despite that massive crater

My heart sank when Doflamingo turned the entire street into strings because it makes it feel like Luffy is fighting the actual city itself and there is nowhere left for him to hide or recover

The Leo Bazooka part was great, but the way the anime dragged out the aftermath felt a bit weird compared to how fast things moved in the manga and you can really tell they are trying to milk the clock when Luffy is just standing there talking to people instead of collapsing from exhaustion like he usually does

I am tired of how much Toei is stretching these fights out with reaction shots of random citizens when Luffy should have been out of commission immediately after his big move

Luffy losing Gear Fourth *right* as Jesus Burgess appeared was such a gut punch, I was screaming at my screen, "No, not now!" He's totally exposed and defenseless now, and I'm just hoping someone, *anyone*, steps up quickly to protect our captain from that big oaf before it's too late.

The people in this city are the absolute worst for turning on Luffy the second his power ran out and questioning if he is trustworthy after he just saved their lives from the birdcage

You see Doflamingo take a massive hit to the face and then he just gets right back up and keeps those strings moving like nothing even happened because that guy is a total monster

I cannot get over how heavy that Leo Bazooka felt on impact and it actually looked like a Dragon Ball move with how the energy blast wrapped around Doflamingo and sent him flying into the plateau

Seeing Luffy run out of Gear Fourth right when Burgess arrives is stressful, especially with how Doflamingo is still standing

I actually shouted at the screen when Luffy started bouncing away for no reason, because the padding in this arc is getting completely out of hand

The weight of that Leo Bazooka landing made the whole air feel heavy and you can really tell Luffy was putting everything he had left into that strike

It is hard to stay focused on the fight when the episode keeps cutting away to random people in the street just to drag out the time

I was cheering when that Leo Bazooka finally connected and seeing Doffy fly into the plateau was the most satisfying thing to happen in the arc so far. But seeing Luffy just deflate and watching Burgess show up to scavenge like a vulture makes me so nervous because Luffy has zero energy left to defend himself

Burgess jumping out of nowhere to steal the fruit was a huge shock, and it makes the situation way more dangerous since Luffy can barely even move his own arms now

Doflamingo getting blasted into the cliffside looked like a total knockout and the animation during that final charge was way better than the rest of the battle
shunseui_sensei_466's avatar
shunseui_sensei_466
Watching Luffy bounce helplessly down the street after his timer runs out is so stressful because Doflamingo is definitely not staying down after just one big hit
bleach_bankai_459's avatar
bleach_bankai_459
Doflamingo staring down an exhausted Luffy after tanking a Leo Bazooka and a Gamma Knife proves that he is much tougher than every other warlord

My jaw literally dropped at how awesome that Leo Bazooka sounded, but then I instantly got this super uneasy feeling seeing Luffy so vulnerable, like completely down for the count, with Burgess just hovering right there. What's that guy even thinking, I'm genuinely worried for my captain right now.

Doflamingo taking a hit that big and still coming back with that creepy smirk is proof that he is one of the toughest villains yet

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode follows directly from Episode 727's game-changing reveal of Doflamingo's Awakening ability, raising the stakes of an already desperate battle. Episode 728 represents a pivotal escalation point in the climactic stretch of the Dressrosa arc, where Luffy's resolve is tested against one of his most dangerous opponents yet. It bridges directly into Episode 729, which shifts focus to the allied efforts to support Luffy and hold the line against Doflamingo's remaining forces.
