Yea the side villains are just ridiculous and forgettable at this point.

Chouchou guarding his late owner's store is devastating in the quietest way. Luffy's reaction to what happens to it tells you everything about his moral compass. A small story with a big heart.

I didn’t expect a dog to have such a sad and meaningful backstory, but it was portrayed beautifully here. It delivered a strong emotional impact despite its simplicity. This episode proved that even small stories can leave a lasting impression.

I love this episode—and Chouchou! 🥹 That story hit emotionally, and I kind of understood Luffy’s feelings afterward. Honestly, I felt like throwing hands with that Beast Tamer too. Lol. It was both heartfelt and frustrating in a good way.

Not Luffy beefing with a dog. Lmao. The trio’s expressions were hilarious, but Chouchou’s story was actually really sad. I didn’t expect a dog to have such a meaningful backstory. This episode was simple, yet surprisingly impactful.

An average episode. The seeing of the dog was kind of dull and irritating but the actual story of the dog was quite good. I do think she needs to mature, I also feel she's annoying with her stereotypical hate towards pirates during the course of this episode.

one of the early standout episodes that really shows the heart of the series - chouchou protecting his dead owner's shop hits surprisingly hard for how early it is and sets the tone for what one piece does best, small emotional moments that make you care about side characters you just met

I actually cried when Chou-Chou was howling at the burning shop and Mohji is just the worst person alive for doing that to a dog

Seeing Luffy walk out of the smoke with that single bag of dog food was everything and it really shows he has a big heart underneath all that goofiness

Nami looking at the match and realizing she can't just kill someone is a huge moment, especially with Luffy calling her out on her resolve right before Zoro shows up

My heart broke when Chou-Chou was howling at the fire and I just wanted Luffy to destroy that lion immediately

I can't believe a cartoon dog just made me cry over a bag of dog food and Luffy giving it back to him was so sweet

A small dog standing his ground against a giant lion even though he knew he would lose was the bravest thing and he really deserved that win

It was so cool when Luffy bounced back that giant cannonball with his rubber body to protect the mayor and save the street from being leveled, especially with Buggy watching from above

Luffy had a terrifying look on his face right before he slammed the lion into the ground and you could tell he was genuinely mad about the shop getting burned down

That concept of treasure being something other than gold really got to me, because it shows how much Luffy respects people and their dreams and watching him salvage that dog food from the burning shop while the dog howled was such a heavy moment, and I honestly didn't think this show would make me feel this way so early on

Nami looks like she is finally starting to realize that Luffy is different from every other pirate she has met so far and her expression when he helped the dog said everything

Walking out of the fire with that single bag of dog food for the little guy was so cool and it really showed what kind of person Luffy is deep down

Even with a giant hole in his stomach Zoro still managed to carry that whole iron cage across town and his endurance is unreal

EPISODE CONTEXT

This is the sixth episode and falls squarely in the Orange Town arc, directly following the crew's first encounter with Buggy the Clown. Mohji's challenge serves as an escalation point, testing the Straw Hats' resolve before the inevitable main event against Buggy himself. It's a bridge episode that deepens crew dynamics and raises the tension heading into the arc's climax.
