Who knew Buggy would be such an iconic character in the One Piece franchise to this very day.

Buggy arrives and immediately owns every scene. Nami playing both sides is smart and fun. The trio forming out of pure chaos feels organic. This arc is already off to a great start.

I love this episode! Seeing the first trio’s dynamic was already so entertaining. Buggy’s introduction was great—the guy was freakin’ terrifying in these early moments. 🤣 It really felt like this was setting up an exciting and highly anticipated fight.

This episode felt like it was building up to a thrilling fight. The tension was there, especially with Luffy getting into a hectic situation. As funny as it looked at times, it still felt like something bigger was about to happen. I’m expecting a badass fight soon.

Simple, colorful animation that totally fits the goofy tone. The pacing is light, the humor lands, and the whole thing has this bright, easy charm. The characters are instantly lovable, and that upbeat atmosphere carries everything. Not deep yet, but ridiculously likable and fun.

Introduces a bizarre power system with chaotic energy. The tone shifts toward unpredictability and humor-driven tension.

Buggy brings chaotic and goofy energy, his presence makes things unpredictable, and Luffy staying relaxed even around him is fun to watch, the tone feels playful but still engaging

the buggy reveal is such a fun twist and watching nami pull the betrayal card on luffy while he's completely helpless is peak early one piece chaos, the bara bara no mi powers look silly but that's kinda the point and it keeps things entertaining

Finally, Luffy and Nami meet! I really like this episode—seeing them get to know each other felt refreshing. There were also subtle details that added depth to their characters, making their early interactions feel more meaningful and engaging.

I was not expecting the thief girl to actually tie Luffy up and hand him over to a lunatic clown for a map. It felt so cold until she grabbed the burning fuse with her bare hands. That moment changed everything and then Zoro showing up even while he was stabbed in the side made the whole escape feel earned

Luffy just sitting in that cage and asking for meat while a town gets blown up is so typical. Nami trying to outsmart everyone only to get caught in the middle, was terrifying to watch

Being stabbed in the back by a floating hand was the last thing anyone expected for the swordsman. He still managed to lift that massive cannon and blast the clown away though

That clown getting so mad about his nose that he almost kills his own guy is hilarious. He is terrifying and goofy at the same time but those Buggy Balls are actually scary powerful

The way that clown got cut into pieces and just started floating around was so confusing for me. I thought Zoro had him and then the hand just came out of nowhere. This show is totally bizarre

Moving that heavy cannon while he was bleeding out was completely insane. Zoro is already showing how loyal he is to Luffy, and Nami finally chose a side when it mattered most

I still can't believe Buggy just split in half and stabbed Zoro like that. I thought he was a goner but he still carried the whole cage anyway. He is a monster for real

Buggy is way more of a threat than Alvida ever was and his voice is perfect for a crazy clown captain who takes things way too personally

Nami saying she hates pirates and then refusing to light the cannon shows she has more heart than she lets on and her burned hands looked so painful

Buggy is actually terrifying and the way his hand just floated behind Zoro was such a cheap move but it really shows how dangerous those fruit powers can get in a fight

You can tell Nami has some serious baggage after she burned her own hands just to keep that cannon from firing on Luffy

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the emotional backstory exploration of the previous episode, Episode 5 pivots hard into present-day conflict by introducing Captain Buggy as a major early antagonist. This marks the beginning of the Buggy arc, which serves as a critical proving ground for Luffy's crew dynamics and deepens the uneasy Luffy-Nami partnership. The confrontation here sets up sustained action and character development that will carry through the next several episodes.
