QUICK TAKES

Luffy is just tossing Hody around and it shows how much he learned during the timeskip and that shark is way out of his league against the new Haki powers

I got a bit of a chill when Shirahoshi decided to lead the Noah away herself and my respect for her went up because she is finally acting like a princess

Hody trying to bite Luffy and just getting blocked by armament Haki was very satisfying. The way Luffy uses his new strength makes the old fights feel like a different show
obariyon_oracle's avatar

Decken getting betrayed like that was honestly hilarious but the stakes feel way too high now with that giant ship basically falling out of the sky

I felt so hyped when Luffy used that armament hardening because it really showed how much stronger he got and that punch felt heavy

I was really surprised by how much of a threat the Noah turned out to be, because Hody and Decken felt like the main problems. Seeing that giant ship loom over everything made my skin crawl and Shirahoshi stepping up to lead it away was such a good moment for her. I need to know why Joy Boy built that thing

Vander Decken betraying Hody just to go after Shirahoshi again was expected but it still makes him such a slimey character to watch

panda_power_138
Hody's face when he realized his punches couldn't even scratch Luffy's Haki was just priceless, I couldn't stop laughing at how utterly outmatched he was. That totally shifted my focus though, making the looming danger of the ark crashing feel way more intense and real, like *that's* the true threat now.

The scale of the Noah is honestly hard to wrap your head around and it makes Decken look pathetic. Shirahoshi is the one truly saving the day by putting herself in danger
aerith_gainsborough's avatar

Hordy is a total monster for trying to wipe out his own home just to get what he wants and the way he turned on Decken was cold

Noah is absolutely massive and it actually feels like a real threat to the island when you see how it dwarfs everything else in the ocean
sailor_neptune's avatar

The way Noah just hangs over the island is terrifying but it also feels like it takes forever to move anywhere which kind of kills the tension a little bit

Hody keeps popping those steroids and getting back up, which is starting to get really annoying after Luffy already thrashed him so easily.

I still can't believe how big the Noah is and the way it covers the whole island is terrifying. Shirahoshi is actually a hero for trying to lead it away and save everyone

Luffy's head stretching out to check on Wadatsumi falling was totally my favorite part, like, who else would even think to do something so goofy at that exact moment? It just cracked me up how he's always so focused but in his own weird way, sometimes it's just pure gold.

Luffy is just on a different level now and seeing him humiliate Hody like that makes you wonder what he can actually do when he faces a real challenge
xerneas_311's avatar

Shirahoshi really is her mother's daughter, and watching her risk her life to save the kingdom while everyone else panicked was actually pretty moving
kirishima_red_riot's avatar
kirishima_red_riot
I was honestly impressed by the scale of the Noah because it really makes the whole island look tiny and the danger feels so much more real now. Hody is kind of a weak villain compared to Luffy, but watching him get destroyed by that armament hardening was still satisfying even if he keeps cheating with those pills to stay in the fight.

Shirahoshi crying while she flew away to lead that giant ship from her people made me realize she has so much of her mother in her

Luffy looks so cool when he hardens his arm and takes those hits like they are nothing. Hody really thought he had a chance but the gap in power is just too much now

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off Episode 557's impressive display of the Straw Hats' post-timeskip power, Episode 558 pivots from crew showcase to full-scale crisis as Noah's descent threatens to annihilate Fish-Man Island entirely. This marks a critical turning point in the Fish-Man Island arc where the conflict evolves beyond Hody Jones and his forces into something far larger. It sets the stage for the arc's climactic stretch, forcing pivotal decisions and alliances that will define the episodes immediately ahead.
