I still can't get over Kuma protecting the Sunny and he really spent two years getting beat up just so the crew had a home to come back to

Rayleigh's teary eyes, as he remembered Roger while Luffy was finally sailing off, gave me such a pang of emotion. I kept picturing him not just reliving old memories, but truly believing he was seeing the next King of the Pirates begin his legend, and that made the long two-year hiatus totally worth every second for me.

I still cannot wrap my head around Kuma being a double agent this whole time and the fact that he traded his entire humanity just to make sure the Straw Hats had a ship to come back to is crushing. It makes me want to know more about Dragon and what their plan was because Kuma stayed there and bled for two years

It really hit me seeing young Roger and Rayleigh talk about the straw hat, because it connects everything back to the beginning while the crew finally sets off for the deep sea.

It is really cool to see a villain like Caribou who is just a total freak and buries people alive because it makes the start of the journey feel much more dangerous

It is strange that the World Government just let Kuma stay at the ship, but maybe they were too scared to mess with him since he was still technically a Warlord then.

Franky telling everyone about Kuma at the end was such a big moment because it totally changes how you look at what happened back at Sabaody when they all got separated

Watching Rayleigh remember Roger while the ship sinks into the ocean is such a beautiful way to start the next leg of the journey and you get actual chills during that flashback today

Kuma sitting there for two years protecting the ship even after losing his mind is actually insane and makes him a total legend
miraidon's avatar

Kuma being a total machine with zero personality left but still having that one order to protect the Sunny is so heavy especially after Franky saw the state he was in today
miko_iino_163's avatar
miko_iino_163
Finding out Kuma was the one protecting the Sunny during the whole timeskip is absolutely wild and you have to wonder how the Marines just let a Warlord sit there and guard a pirate ship

Ugh, that Caribou dude giving us the tongue and trying to pull a sneak attack onto the Sunny already made my skin crawl. I have a bad feeling he's going to cause some serious trouble on the way down, and honestly, I was hoping for a smoother trip to Fish-Man Island.

I am actually crying thinking about Kuma just sitting there and taking damage for two years straight while he guarded the Sunny for everyone and he didn't even have his own mind anymore

Could you believe Roger actually wore the straw hat in that flashback? For me, it completely solidified why Rayleigh gets so incredibly emotional when he talks about seeing Luffy again, as if the spirit of his captain truly lives on through him. It makes me feel like that hat is way more than just a symbol.

Getting to the bottom of the ocean is taking forever but that Kraken at the end looked terrifying. The scale of it is huge

It made my heart heavy to see Kuma all beat up and robotic just to keep the Sunny safe for the crew

Caribou is such a weird freak for trying to bury the fakes like that, but his devil fruit seems dangerous for the crew to deal with underwater
darunia_267's avatar

Roger wearing that hat really drives home the idea that destiny is a real thing. Rayleigh knew it from the start
tesso_titan's avatar

Kuma stood in one spot for seven hundred days while getting blasted by marines just because he believed in Luffy and his crew that much

Kuma really sat by the ship for two whole years and protected it. Did Vegapunk actually help him or did he plan it all himself

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off the crew's emotional reunion and departure from Sabaody Archipelago, this episode marks the true beginning of the Fish-Man Island saga — the first major arc of the post-timeskip era. It bridges the celebratory tone of the reunion with the unknown dangers lurking beneath the sea, establishing the underwater setting and its rules. Everything here is laying groundwork for the conflicts, allies, and revelations waiting at Fish-Man Island itself.
