Blackbeard still being there with two powers is terrifying and the way he just looms over the battlefield makes the future look so dark

Akainu is such a monster for trying to kill Coby just because he wanted the dying to stop and he really has no soul at all

The way Shanks picked up that straw hat and told everyone the war was over was the coolest way to end this nightmare

Law showing up in his submarine to get Luffy out of that mess was such a smart move and it was the only way he was making it out alive

Coby crying and begging for the war to end was the most gutsy thing anyone did in the whole fight and it really changed the mood

I was actually shaking when Coby stood up to Akainu and yelled for the fighting to stop because it was so brave and scary at the same time

Seeing Kizaru actually put his hands up and stop attacking just because Shanks arrived really got me, even the admirals know they can't mess with him

The episode was so heavy with all the soldiers dying for nothing and Coby was the only one pointing out how pointless it all became

I didn't think anyone could actually make the fighting stop after everything that happened with Ace and Whitebeard, but then Shanks just walks in and commands the entire battlefield to stand down and seeing him save Coby from Akainu felt incredible, because that kid has so much heart and the marines were just losing their minds with bloodlust

Shanks showed up out of nowhere and stopped Akainu cold and the look on everyone's faces was everything

listening to coby describe all those voices fading away while the marines kept fighting was haunting and reminded everyone of how aisa felt in skypiea

that moment with everyone staring each other down was enough to make anyone nervous and seeing the war finally stop felt like a weight was lifted

Law pulling up in a whole submarine to get Luffy and Jinbe out of there was a massive relief, and he really is the only reason they have a chance at surviving those wounds

everyone on that battlefield looked completely frozen the second shanks told them the war was over and you could tell even the admirals were hesitant to move

shanks having that straw hat in his hand made me think about the very first episode and it is so sad they cannot even talk right now

akainu is honestly terrifying because he was ready to melt coby for just asking to stop the bleeding and he does not care about his own soldiers at all

Law showing up in a submarine to save Luffy was the last thing on the list of guesses. He is a rival but he still risked his life at Marineford for Luffy

I felt so much for Koby when he started hearing all those voices fading away, it made the war feel so much more grounded and sad. His bravery against Akainu really got to me

Koby realizing he can hear voices everywhere while the fighting goes on was a wild way to show his new powers and he was so brave for trying to stop the killing
uraraka_uravity_124's avatar

Koby stood there and screamed right at Akainu even when he knew he was dead. Seeing that kid go from a coward to someone who stops a war for a few seconds felt earned

EPISODE CONTEXT

Deep in the Marineford War arc, Episode 488 follows the escalating battlefield chaos of Episode 487 and pushes the conflict toward its most consequential turning points. This episode functions as a critical bridge, amplifying the emotional weight of the war while setting the stage for major character arrivals and decisions that will permanently reshape the One Piece world. The arc is approaching its climax, and every moment here carries the gravity of finality.
