When that yellow submarine popped up out of nowhere, I literally gasped, thinking "who is this crazy person joining the chaos?!" But then seeing Law, man, that was a huge relief because Luffy and Jinbei were clearly at their breaking point, I was genuinely worried for them.

When that magma fist absolutely *ripped* through Jinbei and then straight into Luffy, I was genuinely screaming at my screen, thinking "no way they make it through this." Akainu's refusal to let up, even after that devastating blow, just solidified my belief that he's the most terrifying marine I've seen.

Koby standing up to Akainu and screaming for the war to end was the bravest thing and he looked so small against that magma wall while everyone else just kept on killing each other

Law showing up in a submarine was the biggest shock of the episode and I really hope he can actually save Luffy because that chest wound looks fatal

Akainu really just went for it, huh? My stomach dropped seeing him punch right through Jimbei like that, especially with Luffy just completely broken and unable to even react – I was just thinking 'how much more can they take?!'

Koby stood there trembling in front of an Admiral to stop the war and that took more guts than anyone else on that battlefield has shown so far

I still cannot believe Jinbe took that lava hit directly through his chest just to keep Luffy safe and seeing him sacrifice his own body for Ace's brother really got to me

Everything is falling apart and then you see Law arrive and hear that Shanks is on his way so maybe there is finally a chance for Luffy to get out of this nightmare

Akainu feels completely unstoppable and the way he just melted the ground and kept coming for a traumatized Luffy was genuinely hard to watch

The whitebeard pirates are already crushed so the marines chasing them down and killing people just feels like senseless cruelty at this point

It kills me seeing Jimbe take those hits for Luffy because he barely knows the kid but he is already willing to die for him

You can really see the difference between the cold justice Akainu preaches and the actual humanity Koby shows when he starts screaming for the fighting to stop. It was so hard to watch the marines keep hunting down pirates who were already running away, and Akainu trying to kill his own subordinate for having a heart was just disgusting behavior

Seeing that lava fist go right through Jimbe and scar Luffy was the most stressed I have been in this entire arc and my stomach just dropped

Trafalgar Law showing up in a yellow submarine in the middle of a war zone is the kind of chaos this show does best and it felt like a total lifeline for Luffy

Crocodile coming out of nowhere to blast Akainu and save Jimbe was the last thing you would expect from the guy who tried to take over Alabasta

I honestly didn't think Koby had it in him to stand up to Akainu like that, but his speech about the senseless dying really hit home while everything was burning

Akainu is a monster for not stopping after Ace died and seeing him punch through Jimbe just to get to Luffy was terrifying

Akainu’s relentless pursuit even after Ace was gone made my stomach drop; I just kept thinking, 'when will he stop?' because he truly felt less like a person and more like an unstoppable natural disaster, utterly unreasonable and terrifying.

I still can't get over Akainu punching right through Jimbei to get at Luffy. My stomach dropped seeing such a loyal friend take that hit, especially after everything he'd already done to protect him since Impel Down. It just felt so unfair that he had to suffer even more.

I cannot believe Law actually showed up in the middle of this mess and I was cheering when that submarine popped out of the water to save our captain

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned deep in the Marineford War arc, episode 487 follows the major turning points of the previous episodes where alliances were tested and devastating losses reshaped the battlefield. Akainu's pursuit escalates the conflict to its most dangerous phase yet, pushing Luffy and his allies to their absolute breaking point. This episode serves as critical connective tissue between the war's climactic moments and the emotional aftermath that will define the arc's conclusion.
