Introduces a more mysterious concept. Interesting premise, slow execution.

I had a good time watching Luffy and Zoro wander into danger like usual while Nami and Sanji dealt with the crazy taxes

Henzo is such a weird guy and why is he obsessed with that mist it feels like he is hiding something huge about the flow of history

It is kind of a drag coming off the Alabasta arc, but Henzo acting like a time traveler keeps you curious about the kids lost in the mist.

I thought Nico Robin being interested in the legend of the rainbow mist made the whole mystery feel way more important

I wasn't really expecting to go straight into filler after everything that happened with Crocodile but this one seems okay so far. Henzo is a total nut with his inventions and I think the rainbow mist has something to do with time moving differently inside. It feels a bit slow but Robin being interested in the history makes me want to keep watching.

This tax system is so annoying and the mayor is just choosing the most illogical things to charge people for like that marine flicking his coin to pay

The taxes on Luluka are insane and those poor islanders look so miserable under that greedy mayor and his towers

Henzo is definitely a kooky scientist but his backstory about the missing children is pretty heavy and dark for a side story

People told me this was the worst arc ever but the idea of a ghost ship mist that eats time is actually cool

I wonder who that guy with the explosive finger flick is, because sinking a marine ship like that was a crazy move for a mayor's subordinate.

Zoro sleeping through the entire arrival at Luluka is the most predictable thing ever and he does not care about the fog at all

Mayor Wetton is such a jerk for taxing those poor people just to fund his weird research and I hope Luffy punches him soon

I know everyone says skip the Rainbow Mist because it is just filler, but the animation actually looks way cleaner than the last few episodes. It is weird seeing a filler arc look this good and the mystery of that finger flick guy sinking the marine ship has me interested in what Mayor Wetton is really hiding on Luluka Island.

Robin acting like a total bookworm and getting hyped for a legend is the most relatable part of this filler start

I am so confused by the time dilation in that mist and how decades pass outside while it is just minutes in there

Henzo looking for his friends for fifty years is actually really sad and he just keeps building stuff to find them in the fog

The transition from alabasta to this filler is a bit jarring but at least the science stuff with the mechanical suits is kind of funny
professor_sycamore_332's avatar

Most of the crew barely did anything this episode and it feels like they are just tourists watching someone else's drama unfold in this mist

I actually don't mind this filler so far because the rainbow mist is such a strange and creepy idea for a setting, and it really sucks for Henzo since he aged fifty years while his friends are still children trapped in time. Watching him get so excited about his research after everything makes me want to see him succeed

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 139 kicks off the Ruluka Island Arc, a filler arc that slots in directly after the Goat Island filler episodes. It serves as setup, introducing the island's corrupt power structure and the central mystery of the Rainbow Mist that will drive the next several episodes. None of this connects to the manga's canon storyline, so viewers focused purely on mainline progression can skip ahead without missing plot-critical developments.
