I actually started tearing up when Kuma promised to save Bonney no matter what, because you can see how much he loves her in every scene. It makes the whole Pacifista deal feel way more personal now that we know he did it all just so she could have a future. Calling himself a gentle pacifist at the end was the breaking point

Bonney just casually turned into an adult while they were playing in the church and that was such a fun moment before everything got so heavy with the doctors and the Marines

Kuma realizing he only has five years left with Bonney just hurts too much and he is literally the kindest guy in the whole show for staying so gentle through all that

I still can't believe the government turned Kuma into a villain for saving his people and that solo revolution at the end was so cool when he just wiped out those ships by himself

That marine looking like the Willem Dafoe meme was such a random thing to see during the big fight and it was actually hilarious to see that in the middle of a serious moment

This whole propaganda about Kuma being a tyrant just boils my blood, especially when you see how much the people in Sorbe truly cherish him and his church. I can't stand how easily the government manipulates perceptions, completely ignoring the genuine love and respect he earned.

I still can't get over Kuma calling himself a gentle pacifist while agreeing to lose his humanity and my heart is actually breaking for him right now

Did they seriously just call him a tyrant? I was fuming watching that news report twist him rescuing old ladies from a fire into some villainous act, it just proves how far the Marines will go to control the narrative. My jaw honestly dropped, they're so blatant about their propaganda.

It was so hard watching Kuma smile for Bonney even though he just found out she only has five years left, the guy is just trying his best for his daughter

Bekori really thought he could just sail back with some Marine ships and act like a king again until Kuma dropped that massive air bubble on his head

the way kuma stood on that tiny boat alone against a whole fleet of marine warships was incredible, especially when he used that ursus shock to protect the kingdom from bekori and his soldiers

Kuma carrying that elderly lady through the fire at the start really showed what kind of man he was way before he became a pirate

Dragon and Ivankov showing actual concern for Kuma's daughter was a nice change of pace because it proves the revolutionary army really is different from the marines

Bonney turning into an adult and Bullock thinking she was the Queen Dowager was such a cute scene, but it makes her terminal illness feel even more unfair.

You see Kuma travel to all the islands where he eventually sent the Straw Hats and it shows how much he was planning ahead

Kuma calling himself a gentle pacifist right before agreeing to be turned into a literal weapon of war and the fact he chose that name for the cyborgs makes the future so much darker

I actually screamed when they snuck in that Willem Dafoe meme face during the marine scene and the animators are absolute legends for making that happen

I honestly can't handle how much Kuma has lost for the sake of his daughter and seeing him agree to lose his own mind just to give Bonney a future was devastating. It makes every scene with the Pacifistas in the earlier arcs feel completely different now that we know he did it all to save her life from that disease.

I loved seeing Kuma absolutely destroy Bekori and that Marine fleet with a single Ursus Shock after they tried to take over the island again

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 1133 sits at the emotional core of Kuma's extended flashback arc, following directly from Episode 1132's exploration of how Kuma became a father after his pledge to Ginny. It deepens the stakes of his personal sacrifice before Episode 1134, 'Cruel Fate: Kuma's Decision as a Father,' where his choices reach a critical turning point—making this installment essential connective tissue that transforms Kuma from a mysterious figure into one of the series' most sympathetic characters.
