those butterfly demons are actually pretty terrifying once they start using those transformation spells and watching miko try to protect the seal case while her sister was in trouble makes you feel really stressed out

The music during the sisterhood moments is actually decent but everything else about this chapter feels like a step down from the original series

gigai_ghost_476
the music got really creepy when that seal case started acting up and i thought miko looking actually scared for once while those butterfly demons surrounded her and her sister was a lot to take in

this episode was way too slow and the way they keep recycling the same tentacle stuff is getting boring because the mahoroba demons dont feel like a real threat to miko at all anymore

the whole plot about the shikima brain feels like a lot of talking for a show like this and it would be better to see more of the sisters fighting off the butterfly demons instead of all the lore

I really struggled to follow what was happening with the Mahoroba plot this time because the version I found had so many weird cuts and jumps in the middle of the action and it feels like half the episode is missing and it makes the sisters look way more helpless against the demons than they usually are

The way the butterfly demons just pop up out of nowhere to grab the seal case feels lazy and I wish the sisters fought back harder

I think the way Miko handles those butterfly demons is cool because she never gives up even when things get weird and the animation on the mahoroba powers looks better than the first two chapters

That first look at the Shikima Brain was okay and it definitely adds more to the scale of the universe even if the animation is sketchy

Miko getting overwhelmed by the butterfly demons in that cave was the only part that felt like the stakes were actually high for the seal case

It is so obvious where the censors hacked this episode apart, and it leaves the Mahoroba motivation feeling completely empty without the explicit parts to bridge the scenes.

The animation during the Shikima Brain explanation looks so much older than the first OVA series and it really takes the weight out of the Mahoroba threat

I thought the Shikima Brain lore was actually kind of cool even if the show is mostly just trashy

Watching Miko and her sister get cornered by those butterfly demons was actually pretty tense, but the edited scenes make the pacing feel super choppy.

I hate how much they cut from the UK version because the butterfly demon stuff makes zero sense without the full scenes and now Miko just looks confused for no reason

It feels like the plot is finally moving toward the Shikima Brain now that the Mahoroba have made their move against the sisters, Miko usually handles herself well but seeing her struggle against the butterfly demons was a change of pace. The animation holds up well for the genre and the music during the fight scenes keeps the energy high enough to stay engaged

The scene with the seal case almost being stolen made me so nervous because Miko was completely pinned down by the Mahoroba

Watching the sister get caught in that trap was pretty rough because those butterfly demons do not play around at all

The way those Mahoroba villains keep coming for the seal case is getting repetitive and they need to just get to the Shikima Brain already

I really liked seeing Miko fight off those butterfly demons near the end and the animation for the tentacles was actually decent for an old ova

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the third of four episodes, Chapter 3 sits at the critical turning point of this OVA series — the conflicts established in Episodes 1 and 2 now broaden significantly with the introduction of rival ninja adversaries who bring their own agenda against the Shikima world. This episode directly escalates the tension and expands the narrative scope, functioning as the primary setup chapter that positions all major players for the finale in Chapter 4.
