It was a cute way to open the series. There is nothing much aside from explaining why Komi is like that. The animation is captivating and I love the soundtrack that was playing when they were writing in the board. Also, some scenes were quite comical.

A captivating beginning, with beautiful animation and art style. Tadano befriends the shy Komi in a touching scene showing that spoken words aren't always necessary.

The soundtracks fits perfectly and the background effects are easy to understand. The characters full of personality and are reflected from their arts, voices and actions. I loved How they made the blackboard scene with the floating letters, camera work, and beautiful music.

Great intro episode to set up the main characters and the story. Visually beautiful and funny to help express the characters emotions and the narrator adds to the comedy. Can also relate to Komi and her anxiety but wanting to make friends, so it makes me more invested!

What a lovely premiere! I especially love how smooth the animation is. The subtlety of the movements is mesmerizing. And that killer “meow”? Super cute! Though I’d say it’s not that engaging, at least for now. I rate this series 7/10 for now.

The character names are too funny for me 😆 can't wait to see the others. The atmosphere and scenes are drawn so beautifully. And the relatability is top-tier, even if it's a bit exaggerated in the comical sense.

Well I like the colour pallete and art style quite cute. Typical slice of life anime and always hyperbolic about things. I don't really like how they potray Komi to be honest, it's a little bit fetishizing an quiet girl and pairing it with mediocre looking men.

I love how they portray disorders into anime. So genius to see different characters with different disorders that are actually common in Japan. It teaches us more about the character of that person. I loved the blackboard scene where they communicated in writing with perfect BGM.

Adorable episode, with lovable characters and an endearing plot. Mental conditions being brought on anime screens are not super common, and this episode introduces it gently and educationally. This episode mande me emotional and also gleeful, everything is captivating and warm.

Komi Can't Communicate is a rom-com like no other. Its slower pace highlights Komi’s social anxiety through visual storytelling and silent moments. Episode 1 balances emotion and comedy while setting up her goal and a gentle romantic dynamic. A unique and heartfelt 10/10 start.

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the first of twelve episodes, this premiere lays the essential groundwork — Tadano and Komi's initial connection is the seed from which the entire season grows, specifically Komi's goal of making 100 friends. Everything introduced here — the school dynamics, Komi's communication disorder, and Tadano's role as her bridge to others — becomes the framework that every subsequent episode builds upon. The measured pacing signals that this season will prioritize character-driven moments over rapid plot progression.
