Oshimeter
Synopsis
At Itan Private High School, the most beautiful girl in school is Shoko Komi — everyone admires her, everyone wants to be near her, and absolutely no one realizes she's paralyzed by social anxiety. Her mysterious silence gets mistaken for cool elegance, which is honestly both funny and a little painful to watch. Enter Hitohito Tadano, a thoroughly average guy whose only goal is to blend in and survive high school without incident. He ends up sitting next to Komi, figures out what's actually going on, and learns she has a dream: to make 100 friends. So he becomes friend number one and quietly starts helping her get there. The 12-episode TV series from OLM has this distinctive visual style where Komi's internal panic and the over-the-top reactions of her classmates get expressed through creative animation — chalkboard text, shifting art styles, visual gags that land way harder than they should. It's comedic and youthful but handles the anxiety stuff with genuine care, never punching down. The comedy hits a similar rhythm to Kaguya-sama: Love is War, where mundane social interactions become these dramatic, high-stakes events. And if A Silent Voice resonated with you for its portrayal of communication barriers, this covers similar emotional ground but keeps things lighter. If you liked My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU's awkward school dynamics, Komi's world will feel familiar. It's a warm, funny show about a simple goal that turns out to be not so simple at all.

uorseucs★★★★★AnimeTo be honest, I expected this one to lean more toward romance than comedy, but that didn’t make me feel bad about the series at all. In fact, it made it even more enjoyable since it felt more like SoL (a genre I love). That said, the story can get pretty random at times, but it has solid character development that you’ll notice as long as you pay enough attention. Animation, visuals, and art-wise, it’s definitely a big W. Not only is it cute, it’s also very expressive. I’d rate this series a 9/10. It’s really fun to watch, as long as you don’t mind the pacing—it is quite slow.
