The sword metaphors are everywhere in this one and seeing a strong fighter like Tsubaki get worn down by the principal like that is such a dark turn for the series

I went into this expecting the usual low effort animation, but the art during the kendo drills actually looked decent, and Tsubaki losing her sense of self while trying to protect her teammates felt pretty heavy. The part where she has to face the principal in his office just to keep the club alive really set a grim tone for her character.

You see Tsubaki sacrificing everything for her club but the way Souma just watches the whole thing go down without knowing the truth is the most painful part of this story

I was actually surprised by how good the animation looked during the kendo practice scenes and it made the whole episode feel way more polished than most things in this genre

Tsubaki trying to save the kendo club by making that deal with the principal was a lot and the way her mind starts slipping from the training is hard to watch

The voice acting when Tsubaki was trying to keep her composure in front of the principal really sold how much she was struggling

It probably would have been smarter to tell the other club members instead of trying to handle the principal and his demands alone

The animation during the kendo matches looked surprisingly good and it made the later scenes feel much more grounded

Tsubaki was already dealing with enough just liking Souma, so having the principal corner her in the office like that was just cruel to watch.

I really felt for Tsubaki trying to save the kendo club but that principal is the absolute worst. The way her personality shifts from being a strong instructor to someone just falling apart under pressure was intense. I expected something different based on the earlier episodes and this shift into a blackmail plot felt a lot darker than what we saw with Honami.

That principal is disgusting and the way he blackmailed Tsubaki was hard to watch and it made the whole episode feel like too much

I think the principal is way too creepy and Tsubaki deserved way better than that mess in the office

I liked the art style during the training scenes and seeing Tsubaki take charge before everything went south was my favorite part

Souma is oblivious and Tsubaki is doing all the heavy lifting just to keep that club from closing down

The kendo club stuff was a cool setup but seeing Tsubaki give in to the principal felt super uncomfortable

You can really see the moment her mind starts to break when she realizes the club is safe but she is stuck with the principal for a whole month

The way Tsubaki is willing to sacrifice everything for the club is heavy, and the principal is a total creep for taking advantage of her like that.

Watching Tsubaki lose her composure in the kendo gym while the principal watched was the craziest part and you can tell she is totally losing it

I thought the kendo girl would put up more of a fight but the principal really got into her head fast and the moment she accepted that deal felt so wrong

Tsubaki is doing way too much for that kendo club and seeing her give in to the principal like that was actually kind of rough to watch

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned as the fifth of six episodes, this installment sits at the critical turning point where the season's emotional and narrative threads must begin converging. Everything established in Episodes 1 through 4 — the relationship dynamics, career pressures, and personal tensions between Honami and Seika — is now being drawn toward resolution. Episode 5 serves as the final major buildup before the concluding Episode 6 delivers the season's payoff.
