READTHROUGH
The Crash Landing
The rescue mission begins with a helicopter cutting through a green, mountainous landscape, carrying Taro and his maids towards a hidden fortress. The mood is tense, anticipation heavy in the air. This calm is abruptly shattered when Ryuka bursts through the ceiling, laughing and armed to the teeth, only to accidentally drop a live grenade. The resulting explosion sends the helicopter spiraling, smoking and out of control, towards its destination.
Mariel's Prison
Deep within the fortress, in a sterile, dimly lit laboratory, Mariel floats unconscious. She is encased in a glass tube, connected by wires, suspended in glowing purple liquid, her long hair drifting around her. Shikoin, a maid of severe demeanor, stands before the tube, observing Mariel with a cold, analytical gaze. She senses the intruders' arrival, a subtle ripple in her calculated composure, confirming their breach of the facility.
Entering the Fortress
The damaged helicopter crashes violently into the fortress's docking bay, sparking and smoking as it skids to a halt. Ryuka is the first out, machine guns blazing, clearing a path through automated defenses with joyful abandon. Ikuyo and Cynthia follow, assessing the damage and readying themselves. Taro is shielded by Grace and Konoe, who draw their own weapons, facing down the initial wave of resistance to protect their master. Konoe then steps forward, her katana a blur, disarming a squad of tactical guards before they can even fire. Further on, Ikuyo uses a 'Decoy-kun' sticker to divert a lethal laser, allowing the group to press forward through sterile corridors.
Hokusai's Orders
In the same laboratory, a towering hologram of Hokusai Hanaukyo materializes before Shikoin. His voice is sharp, demanding to know the status of the intruders, expressing annoyance that Taro has advanced so far. Hokusai reminds Shikoin of Mariel's importance as a 'perfect' prototype, warning against any 'emotional contamination.' Shikoin bows deeply, assuring her master that she will personally eliminate Taro and the 'defective' maids before they can reach the inner sanctum.
The Sacrifice
The group arrives at a junction where multiple paths converge, and the ominous sound of approaching footsteps echoes through the halls. Ryuka and Ikuyo choose to remain, loading their weapons to hold back the security droids. Ikuyo gives Taro a firm thumbs-up, telling him to focus only on saving Mariel. Taro looks back, worried for their safety, but Grace and Konoe push him forward, promising that their companions are more than capable of winning their battle.
The Maid's Proof
As Taro, Konoe, and Grace descend in a large circular elevator, Taro's anxiety becomes clear. He looks at his trembling hands, confessing his fear that he is a burden, that the maids are risking their lives for him. Konoe produces a small, metallic bead, a 'Maid's Proof' that Taro once gave to all of them. She explains that this simple gesture gave them their hearts, and it is their deepest pride to serve a master who truly cares.
Shikoin's Challenge
The elevator opens to a dark, cavernous hallway leading to Mariel's chamber. A cloaked figure emerges from the shadows, blocking their path. It is Shikoin, who discards her cloak to reveal a custom maid uniform and an expression of utter contempt. Konoe's eyes widen with recognition and fear; she understands Shikoin's power exceeds that of a normal maid. Shikoin mocks their devotion to Taro, declaring maids are merely tools and their 'hearts' are nothing but a programming error. When Grace lunges at Shikoin with desperate speed, she is effortlessly struck down and hurled across the room. Despite her injuries, Grace struggles back up, tackling Shikoin in a desperate bear hug. She screams at Taro and Konoe to run, to save the woman Taro loves, even as Shikoin's elbows brutally strike her. Konoe pulls a tearful Taro away, leaving Grace to her impossible fight.
Taro's Desperation
Taro bursts into the inner chamber, racing to Mariel's stasis tube. He pounds on the thick glass, shouting her name, begging her to wake. Finding an emergency axe, he swings it with all his might, but the glass remains impervious. Shikoin's voice, now close, echoes through the room; she tells Taro that Mariel's heart is an unfillable void. Shikoin knocks the axe from Taro's hands and pins him to the ground, her foot pressing down on his chest. He continues to reach out, declaring that he does not care if Mariel was made to be a maid or a tool, because to him, she is the most precious person in the world. His sincere words cause a momentary ripple in Shikoin's cold logic. In the background, Konoe struggles to her feet, striking the tube's power coupling with a desperate blow, causing the stasis fluid to flicker.
Mariel Remembers
Within Mariel's mind, a torrent of warm, vibrant memories begins to surface. These flashes stand in sharp contrast to the cold reality of her imprisonment. She sees moments with Taro, playing baseball, bowling, and resting beneath a tree. These memories become a powerful catalyst, slowly eroding the mental conditioning imposed by Hokusai. The 'void' Shikoin described begins to fill with color as Mariel's subconscious responds to Taro's voice calling to her.
Mariel's Awakening
The glass of the stasis tube shatters in a spectacular explosion of purple light and fluid. Mariel drifts downwards, her eyes slowly opening. She sees Taro reaching for her amidst the debris, whispering his name. As their hands touch, a massive pulse of energy ripples through the lab, knocking Shikoin backward and disabling the facility's security grid. Taro catches Mariel in his arms, wrapping his kimono around her as she finally awakens fully, a smile gracing her face for the first time since her capture.
The Escape
With Mariel safe, the group makes a frantic escape as the facility begins its self-destruction sequence. Ryuka and Ikuyo rejoin them, aiding the injured Grace toward the roof access. Shikoin watches them leave, her eyes wide with a strange mix of confusion and nascent understanding, making no move to stop their flight. As they reach the roof, several large missiles launch from the base's internal silos, aimed at the sky to prevent any aerial rescue. Cornered on the roof, with automated turrets locking onto them, Taro shields Mariel. Just as the weapons are about to fire, the massive Hiyuugura airship emerges from the clouds, its main cannons destroying the fortress's remaining defenses. A boarding ramp lowers, and the maids cheer as they quickly ascend into the safety of their home.
A Quiet Sunset
Safe aboard the airship, in the medical bay, Mariel rests comfortably on a sofa, attended to by the maids. Taro sits beside her, gazing out the window at the setting sun, reflecting on the strength of the bonds he shares with his maids. Mariel reaches out, taking his hand, thanking him for his unwavering belief and for never giving up on her. The airship flies towards the horizon, leaving the conflict behind, carrying the team home to the Hanaukyo estate.
