Tanjiro and Nezuko tumble down the cliff after her demonic outburst. When Tanjiro recovers, he finds Nezuko standing, now a feral demon. She lunges at him, snarling, attempting to bite. The boy's face twists in horror as he grasps the unbearable truth: his sister has become the very monster Saburo warned him about.

Tanjiro grapples with the impossible reality. Memories of Nezuko's human kindness flash through his mind, contrasting sharply with the snarling demon before him. He smells another presence at his home, suggesting an outside force. He pleads with Nezuko to fight her demonic instincts, and for a moment, tears well in her eyes, a sign of her humanity still buried within.

A new figure, Giyu Tomioka, a Demon Slayer, arrives with chilling efficiency. He moves to dispatch Nezuko, seeing only a demon. Tanjiro, despite his injuries, throws himself in front of his sister, screaming defiance. Giyu is ruthless, knocking Tanjiro aside, determined to carry out his duty.

Tanjiro, momentarily incapacitated, attempts a desperate, clumsy attack on Giyu. This distraction allows Nezuko to intervene, not to attack Giyu, but to protect Tanjiro. This act of selfless defense gives Giyu pause. He sheathes his sword, offering cryptic instructions to seek out Sakonji Urokodaki and a dire warning about the sun.

Tanjiro looks at Nezuko, then to the sky, accepting their new, harsh reality. He places a bamboo muzzle on Nezuko, a symbol of his determination to protect her and control her demonic urges.
