mandrake kakiage actually sounds so fire, am i just a hungry victorian child?? but a victorian child would literally combust if they ate a roasted basilisk. marcille is fighting for her life trying to avoid this food and it is hilarious

Laios and Senshi’s infodumping about nutrition and creatures is a funny foil to Marcille’s disgust over eating monsters. This episode highlights how Marcille’s bookishness works with the rest of the team’s practical experience, which makes them satisfyingly complement each other.

The anime continues it's deeper introduction of our characters that makes viewers understand and relate more with said characters. The straight man role of Marcille and her loud reactions relieves tension and provides major laughs to prevent boredom after detailed lectures and explanation by the characters about monsters, cooking, and party roles.

This episode reinforces the characterizations established on the prior one. Personalities butt heads nicely, which puts a lot of flavor (heh) into them. Art and comedy remain great, but the lack of forward story momentum may leave much to be desired.

Pacing of this episode is the same. But this time, what made this hilarious is the moment they fought that chicken! Laios looked hideous doing the chicken stance. Also there is a similar monster from Harry Potter in this episode!!!

The animation of cooking this particular monster was spectacular I cannot imagine how will be the taste in the end. I wish I can eat what they cook

Episode 2 balances food logic and dungeon chaos really well. Basilisk hunt turns scary fast, but animation stays clean and expressive, especially poison effects and mandrake chaos. Trap scenes feel playful, and character motions sell the comedy without breaking tension.

With the first episode being more on introductions, this episode focused on the dynamics between the characters while showing more creative recipes. When one of them would struggle or become disheartened, the others help to get them back on their feet. This episode shows heart!

Going on a mission didn't felt so tasty! The episode is filled with information even explaining every aspect of ingredient and way of cooking. The overall dialogue explained just that. Nothing less of a good meal! New unique monsters and fresh new ingredients for the crew.
