QUICK TAKES

the arc's central antagonist continues to undermine tension through sheer incompetence. a narrative threat only works when the audience believes it is genuinely threatening. at this point the dramatic stakes feel artificially maintained rather than earned.

if only the antagonist at the center of this arc was smarter it would be so much more fun to watch unfold. right now it just feels like watching someone make obvious mistakes in slow motion and it is kind of painful honestly

i am so tired of this guy making stupid mistakes that any slightly smarter person would never make. if someone with actual intelligence was at the center of this arc it would be SO MUCH BETTER but instead we are stuck watching this go down slowly.

Appreciate all the questions Light was asking this episode but we all know that things are gonna take a turn.

EPISODE CONTEXT
Sitting at episode 23 of 37, 'Frenzy' serves as the climactic payoff of the Yotsuba Group investigation arc, building directly on the critical intelligence gathered in 'Guidance' (Episode 22). This episode represents a major turning point in the series' middle act, accelerating the confrontation to its breaking point. It directly sets up 'Revival' (Episode 24), which transitions Death Note into its next major phase of conflict and intrigue.
