Synopsis

When a squad of alien invaders lands in Japan with orders to conquer the planet, they promptly forget why they were supposed to do that in the first place. That's the premise of Chikyuu Daisuki! Kikkun, a 52-episode TV series from Kachidoki Studio airing in 2026, and it works surprisingly well as a comedy engine. Kikkun and his crew show up ready to take over, take one look at Japanese culture, and essentially go 'actually, this is fine.' Now instead of invading, they're trying to fit in — which, as you'd expect from a group of extraterrestrials with zero understanding of human norms, goes badly in the funniest ways possible. The humor comes from watching creatures built for conquest try to navigate convenience stores, social customs, and daily life. It has a bright, colorful animation style that keeps the energy light, and the soundtrack matches the tone — upbeat and a little goofy in a way that sticks with you. If you've ever enjoyed the chaotic fish-out-of-water comedy in Binan Koukou Chikyuu Bouei-bu LOVE! or the anthropomorphic absurdism of something like Marude Dameo, this sits comfortably in that space. It's not asking you to think hard. It's asking you to watch aliens slowly become Japan's most enthusiastic fans, and that's a genuinely pleasant way to spend your time.
