You can skip this episode because it doesn't significantly impact the main storyline of Bleach. I think the story is a bit forced, with problems arising from misreading the information on the box. The animation quality is also up and down.

I actually felt so bad for that mod soul after hearing how they were all supposed to be scrapped like trash and it makes sense why he is acting so crazy with his new freedom

The shift from Kon being a complete creep to the reveal of Project Spearhead was a lot to take in, and the lore getting that dark so early on was unexpected. It makes you look at his weird behavior differently because the poor guy was literally created to be a disposable tool and then ordered to be destroyed by the soul society

Watching Ichigo freak out because some random duck pill soul is kissing girls in his body was hilarious and that classroom scene was a total mess

Tatsuki throwing a whole desk at Ichigo was wild and she really does not play around when it comes to her friends

That duck dispenser looks so stupid and it is hilarious that Rukia actually wanted the bunny one instead while Ichigo is literally being kicked out of his own physical body

I can't believe Rukia actually drew those little pictures to explain the history of the modified souls, it was so cute and dark at the same time.

The tone shift in this one was actually kind of crazy, because one minute we are watching a duck soul kiss Orihime and then Rukia drops that lore about the Soul Society ordering a mass execution of these artificial soldiers. I honestly didn't expect Ichigo to start feeling bad for the guy but it makes sense considering how he treats his family.

The way the students just see Ichigo fighting invisible air while the real Ichigo is screaming about his reputation being ruined by that kiss is the funniest thing this show has done so far

Tatsuki throwing a whole desk at Ichigo for kissing Orihime was the highlight and she is definitely not someone you should mess with

Project Spearhead sounds like a total nightmare and it makes you realize the Soul Society might not be the good guys if they just decide to mass produce and then slaughter sentient souls

It was really moving to see the mod soul jump into that alley to save the little boy from those bullies even though he was supposed to be a rogue weapon. It made me realize he isn't just some jerk stealing Ichigo's life, he really just wants a chance to exist and be a hero for once, after being discarded by his creators

Seeing Urahara for the first time was cool and he seems way too suspicious for a guy just running a candy shop

My heart actually hurt when Ichigo realized that the mod soul was just created to be a weapon and then thrown away like garbage

I feel so bad for the little duck soul guy because he was basically made to be a tool and then thrown away and seeing him enjoy the sun for the first time actually hurt

I really felt for that mod soul when he was standing in the alleyway and trying to be a hero for that kid. It is crazy how Ichigo went from being furious about his reputation to actually feeling bad for the guy who stole his body. That final standoff had so much tension because Ichigo clearly hates the idea of destroying him.

The way the episode switches from goofy school antics to the tragedy of the mod souls is a bit jarring, but it really makes you think about the ethics here.

Rukia using those little sketches to explain such a tragic history was a weird choice, but it actually made the whole project spearhead reveal feel even more unsettling

That mod soul running up the side of a building and enjoying the wind made me feel for him because he was stuck in a tiny box forever

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the Hollow Shrieker encounter in Episode 5, this episode escalates the consequences of Ichigo's Substitute Soul Reaper role by introducing a disruptive new presence that complicates his ability to balance normal life and spiritual duties. It deepens the Ichigo-Rukia partnership dynamic and directly sets up Episode 7, which deals with the fallout of this episode's events and pushes the character relationships into more complex territory. At episode 6 of 366, this is still foundational world-building, but the show is clearly done with introductions and now layering in genuine complications.
