Given Vengeance's backstory of being shunned and needing a mask, I'd think he would want a knight squad like Yami's, for misfits? I was a little shocked when seeing his background since he was bullied by the same classism he wants to create. (or unintentionally created)

Okay, so Yami and Vangeance actually working together against those traitors was super unexpected, I totally didn't see that coming! Their dynamic, even in this filler, really made me think of Asta and Yuno's friendly rivalry, and it's got me wondering if they could ever be *that* close.

Julius really had some vision when he recruited those two because seeing them take out those traitors together was actually so impressive

Julius saw something in Yami that no one else did and my heart grew three sizes seeing them take down those bandits as a team

The flashback gave me a lot of context for Yami and Vangeance as young knights, but Julius is starting to weird me out. He keeps hovering over these two very specific people and since they are needed for that tree ritual it makes his kindness feel a little fake. I just hope he isn't actually a bad guy

I really needed to see Yami being a mentor to Asta after that rough loss and hearing about how he and Vangeance started out as rivals was exactly what the show needed right now because it explains so much to me about their bond and why Julius trusted them with their own squads even with all the internal traitors trying to stop them

Critics are saying this is filler because it doesn't match Yami's attitude toward William later on, but seeing the actual moment they decided to form the squads was worth the watch anyway

Yami and William being in the same squad under Julius explains so much and it was cool to see them actually working together on that secret mission to find those traitors in the capital

The decision to make the Black Bulls specifically for misfits who didn't fit in anywhere else really shows how much Yami understands being an outcast

That scene where Yami tells Asta to stop moping is exactly the kind of push that kid needed and it shows how well Yami understands his squad members

Vangeance really needs to learn how to dodge an attack because he was just standing there like a statue while Yami did all the work

Learning that the Black Bulls were always meant for outcasts and hooligans makes me appreciate their specific dynamic so much more after seeing where they started

That mission with the bandits really proved why Julius was right to trust a foreigner and a masked kid, and it makes their captaincy feel earned

Julius picking out these two specifically feels a bit suspicious after everything we know about the ritual and the guy definitely has a weird vibe going on
