Things start coming together with clever teamwork and risky plans. There’s a sense of desperation, but also strategy. The episode ends on a surprising note that changes how you see everything so far.

Owemgee, this episode was full of twists I did not see coming! I’m so happy for everyone. It also really highlighted the strengths of some characters, like how Armin shines with strategic planning. Definitely an exciting and satisfying episode!

In this episode, Armin really shined with his ideas. Nice to see him useful as a strategist and i think that's his best use in battle. I had the idea of that abnormal titan and this episode revealed it itself.

This episode was very intense. A titan fighting other titans! Who knew that the main character can do that! All I hope is an explanation or a lord how he did that! You should not miss this! Every episode never fails to amuse me as a fan! The animation of the titan fight is 10/10!

The basement scene with the muskets was so tense and I was holding my breath the whole time because Sasha and Conny almost died but Mikasa and Annie are literal legends for those saves

Wait what actually just happened because Eren was literally eaten and now he is just climbing out of a titan neck and my brain is actually broken right now and Mikasa crying made it so much worse

The way the steam was rising while Mikasa held onto Eren made that whole ending feel like a fever dream, especially since everyone thought he was gone for good after episode five.

Seeing those supply officers hiding under desks while everyone else was getting eaten in the streets was infuriating and Jean was right to deck that guy for being a total coward

I seriously can not believe they just brought Eren back like that after we saw him get swallowed episodes ago. It changes everything about the titans and how they work. Seeing Mikasa break down and sob against his chest while checking for a heartbeat really got to me because she usually stays so cold and collected during the actual fighting.

Armin saved everyone by figuring out that musket trap in the basement even when he was clearly shaking the entire time he explained it to the group

Everything changed the second Eren popped out of that steaming neck and the look on Armin and Mikasa faces said it all because nobody expected him to survive being titan food

Jean found his spine and actually started giving orders when everyone else was just waiting to die plus that punch he landed on the supply guy was so deserved

The way that rogue titan absolutely mauled the other one, pulling it apart at the neck, made my stomach turn a bit. And then for it to just completely ignore the cadets, like they weren't even there, to focus on punching more titans? I'm still trying to figure out what that even meant for us.

The image of Mikasa running through all that steam just to get to him was so intense and seeing her find him alive was such a huge relief after all that misery

Sasha and Conny almost dying in the basement was terrifying and thank god Mikasa and Annie are fast enough to save them before they got eaten

Those supply squad guys hiding under the desks while their friends died to get them gas were pathetic and Jean was right to call them out

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 8 sits deep in the Battle for Trost arc, the first major sustained conflict of the season, following devastating cadet losses in the previous episodes that shattered any illusions of safety. This installment functions as a critical pivot point where survival shifts from reactive panic to deliberate strategy, bridging the initial chaos with the larger tactical maneuvers that will define the arc's resolution in the episodes ahead. With 17 episodes still remaining in the season, the groundwork laid here — particularly the character dynamics forged under pressure — will carry significant weight as the story escalates beyond Trost.
