I adore this episode. It broke my heart. It really explains Mikasas personality and why she's so attached and in love with Eren, which makes everything even more heartbreaking. I love her so much. Bless her little soul. Thank god Eren did what he did or she'd have been a child prostitute underground for life. Even as a child Eren was unhinged

A deeply emotional episode centered on survival instincts and emotional detachment formed through trauma.

A deeper look into Mikasa adds emotional depth. Her strength finally gets context, making her more than just powerful. The action is solid, but the backstory is what truly stands out and connects you to her.

The aftershock of the titan attack gives the audience the image of war and casualties. Armin is in a trance to cope with what has just happened. Mikasa’s character development story penetrates the plot barrier exactly. The sequence is great, along with its overall pace and flow.

It was emotional and tragic. Mikasa's backstory explains her strength and bond with Eren. It feels like a female OP lead. She's so matured and powerful and i hope to see more of her

Okay, I take back my question from the previous episode because apparently Mikasa can kill, and she is so cool. It was also so satisfying when she got rid of that greedy man. I did not expect her to have such a tragic past, but now I understand why she is the way she is.

Through Mikasa, the show explores trauma in a way that feels intimate. Her strength is born from pain, not power fantasy. The back flashes also helped characterize Mikasa and Eren and explained why they're the way they are now.

Armin, bless his heart, trying to haul that half-eaten soldier away, seriously messed me up. I felt a chill run down my spine watching him desperately cling to what was already lost; it was just so brutally futile, making me wonder how he'll ever cope with this nightmare.

I am still shaking after seeing Eren take out those kidnappers and the way he looked at them like they were just bugs was actually terrifying for a kid his age

Mikasa threatening that merchant with her blade was so cold and he really thought his money mattered more than all those people trapped at the gate

How Mikasa just flipped a switch and killed that kidnapper after Eren told her to fight was chilling and it explains so much about her

Mikasa is basically a one-woman army at this point, but seeing what happened to her as a kid explains why she acts so cold when she fights.

I am still shaking after seeing what happened to Franz because Armin realizing that half the body was gone while Hanna tried to save him was the most haunting thing yet

Everyone is acting like Eren is gone for good but the show is named after him so there is no way he actually died in that titan stomach even if Armin is losing his mind

If you dont fight you cant win and that realization hitting Mikasa changed everything about her character in an instant

I really can't get over the contrast between Eren being a tiny assassin and then wrapping his scarf around Mikasa to keep her warm, it makes their bond feel so much more intense and dark. Seeing her still wearing that scarf while she shreds titans in the present day just makes it hurt more, because she has no idea he got eaten

The way the animation changed when Mikasa had her awakening was so cool and you can tell something just snapped in her brain to help her kill that kidnapper and save Eren from getting strangled

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 6 lands in the early stretch of the Trost arc, directly following catastrophic losses that shattered the recruits' sense of safety and forced them into real warfare for the first time. This installment pivots from pure survival horror to character excavation — particularly Mikasa's backstory — deepening the personal stakes before the battle escalates further. It serves as critical emotional groundwork for the major turning points and revelations that define the arc's back half.
