Rou confronting Rikuo like that was so tense and you can tell he is just hurting because of how much he likes Shinako

I really felt for Shinako when she talked about the brother and it makes so much sense why she is so distant now

Haru just walking right into that conversation between Rikuo and Shinako was so bold and you have to respect how she just goes for it

everything about that night scene felt very moody and it was a huge step up from the intro because the connection between them felt way more personal

the protagonist is definitely a piece of work for his methods but that one-on-one time at the festival had some good moments where they just talked

I usually expect these older OVAs to be pretty mindless, but the way they handled the tension during the fireworks actually caught me off guard because it felt like a real conversation. My favorite part was just the quiet buildup on the beach before things got intense and it made me actually care about who sent that letter in the first place

you get that classic nostalgic feeling when they are just sitting there talking before everything happens and it makes the payoff feel a lot more earned

that isolated scene by the water really changed the energy from the first episode and made the romance feel a lot more real and serious for once

i really liked the older art style during the fireworks because it gave the whole romantic moment a very specific nineties vibe that you just do not see anymore

the firework show was a nice touch for the setting, even if the premise of the show is still totally ridiculous and over the top

it is kind of crazy how the guy is just sleeping his way through the friend group to find a secret admirer but the drama on the pier was surprisingly decent

you can tell this was based on a visual novel because that date on the beach felt exactly like picking a specific route and sticking to it until the end

I think the mood during the firework scene was really sweet and it made the whole hookup feel like it mattered more than just a random encounter

getting stuck alone during the festival is such a trope but they made it work by focusing on the old high school tension and the animation looked surprisingly clean

Watching them get separated from the group was a classic move, but the dialogue in the cabin felt surprisingly grounded for a show with this premise

using the fireworks to drown out the talking was a cool touch and it made the isolation feel much more heavy

the way the music built up during the beach walk made me feel like the whole reunion was actually bittersweet instead of just being about the scenes

that grainy 90s art style during the festival scenes really captured a mood and it felt way more like a real drama than expected

the animation on the cherry blossoms falling while shinako was lost in her thoughts looked incredible and really captured that feeling of being stuck in the past while time keeps moving

my heart broke when shinako mentioned her former love because the grief in her voice felt so heavy and i just want her to find some peace and move on

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly after the reunion episode that reintroduced the cast and established the protagonist's search for his secret admirer, this episode moves the emotional thread forward by placing two characters in a deliberately isolated, romantic setting. At the series' midpoint — episode two of four — it functions as the turning point where initial tension gives way to something more direct. The back half of the series will likely build on whatever shift occurs here.
