The Imperial Council scene is the season's best political episode. Sweyn announcing Wales destroys Askeladd's entire plan in one sentence. Leif visiting Thorfinn in jail and speaking of Vinland in the middle of all this chaos is quietly beautiful.

Thorfinn's despair was the highlight of the episode. Really felt the emotion behind Leif's plea to Thorfinn and he is standing in crossroads now. Askeladd's brainstorming is literally running through his head. The music also had a great impact throughout this episode.

Battle of wits and master planners continues. Askelaad's mastery is met by an equal match by the king and Floki's sinister intention. Revenge is the underlying emotion that drive both Askelaad and Thorfinn. Different but same. Good pace. Need more action.

Askeladd's brain once again got them through but another obstacle infront of him, interesting to see what se does from now on. I feel a big change in Thorfinn's character is coming. It's also nice that the Vinland is mentioned and it will hold a key for Thorfinn's resolve I feel.

Askeladd's decision has now come to its fruition. Everything was precise and perfect according to his plans, until it is not. He now has to choose between his homeland or his loyalty. As for Thorfinn, he was left devastated as his lifelong plan on revenge has loses its meaning.
