After three episodes establishing Tomanto's detective style and personal quirks through largely standalone cases, Episode 4 broadens the series' scope by introducing Detective Berryry as a recurring rival, signaling a move toward more interconnected character dynamics. This is the first real hint that the season has longer-term relationships to develop beyond single-episode mysteries. It sets the stage for a more competitive and multi-character driven second act as the series heads toward its midpoint.
