Episode 8 halted the Four Halls tournament when Zhong Xiu's situation became a very public crisis, forcing the competition to the sidelines. Episode 9 resolves enough of that confrontation to restart the action while deepening the social and personal stakes surrounding Shi Mu and Zhong Xiu. The episode feeds directly into Episode 10, with a new challenge already taking shape by the closing moments.
