A very simple premise, a very simple episode, and I love it. Just get MaoMao to taste test everything and getting the recognition she deserves from all the higher ups is such a delight to see unfolding. I’m still a bit confused with the hair pin things, but I’m guessing it implies some romantic feelings? I’m not against it, just feels a bit forced, but who knows maybe I’ll enjoy it by the end.

The garden party continues showing the intrigues and rivalry between the Concubines and their respective servants. Meanwhile, Maomao seems to be getting more attention as more hairpins end up in her hands. But while all looks fine, something more dangerous happens that reveals…

Vemos como Maomao tiene cada vez mas reconocimiento, también lo metódica y tranquila que es para analizar las situaciones y generar una buen tensión.

When I first did research for this anime, many people said that watching Maomao feels like watching Sherlock Holmes. And this episode is the most "Sherlock" Maomao ever looked so far.

Maomao calmly does her job tasting food at a garden party. But she starts to feel something is wrong when she notices Lady Lishu looks scared. The episode is simple, tense, and shows how observant she is.

I love the pacing and the slow connecting of information from the last episode to now making it very engaging, immersive, and full of light bulb moments. Another badass episode for Maomao as we see her first public apperance as a food tester and disciplining another attendant.

This episode is mostly about interactions, but it works well. Maomao’s straightforward attitude is refreshing, and Jinshi’s reactions make their scenes fun to watch. It’s simple but still very engaging.

The mystery is starting to unfold! Maomao is so perceptive and it makes watching her so interesting. She picks up on things no one else would ever notice. While this episode was a bit slow, each moment contributed to the story and no time was wasted at all. Can't wait for more!

You can really feel the tension in this episode, especially with more characters getting involved. Her facial expressions here are hilarious ! I was really laughing, and at the same time, I felt butterflies because of the male lead.

This episode carries a quiet tension that slowly builds, and I love it. It never explodes into something overly dramatic, but you can feel the weight of the situation. Maomao continues to be such a strong presence—she doesn’t need to try hard to stand out. I also appreciate how the supporting characters are starting to feel more real. Nothing feels flat or one-dimensional. It’s all very subtle, but very effective.

The way she's enjoying eating poison is like she's having mukbang. haha
But that poisoned animated face of hers look's so seductive. Mr. Jinshi worried a lot for her a sign of getting emotionally attached. Hihi

One of the best episodes with well done animation! We see Maomao get so many hairpins and get poisoned too omg. This episode really made me laugh with the first part and intrigued how they helped Lady Lishu with her situation at her palace.

Man, Maomao finally got her poison! Seeing her blush over that toxic soup while everyone else was dying of fear was peak. She’s the only one who treats an assassination attempt like a five-star meal. She is adorable in her own way.

The animation is feast to eyes😍. Every details were beautifully animated. Coming to story, there are many hidden insults and jealous looks between the attendants of cocubines! Maomao saving Lady Lihua from the lead-based makeup was a huge "boss" moment😎. Also she becoms the "poison tester" and her reaction to eating poisoned soup was the highlight of this episode😅🤣. The animation during the dance scenes was absolutely stunning!!!!!!

the garden party is a battlefield in disguise. court politics, concubine rivalries, and Maomao casually taste testing poison like it's nothing. her reaction to being poisoned is so unhinged fr. ends on a note that sets up something bigger

The way Maomao tastes poison is a unique element that makes everyone more curious to watch the next episode. Jinshi even shows some care and concern toward Maomao about how she tastes poison without any hesitation for her own safety. And the plot twist about who gets poisoned is

EPISODE CONTEXT

After the covert tension of Episode 5, Episode 6 pulls the camera back to the broader social fabric of the rear palace, using the garden party as a stage to crystallize the rivalries and alliances that will drive later conflicts. It's a pivotal transition point at the quarter mark of the 24-episode season, deepening the court's political landscape before Episode 7's 'Homecoming' shifts focus toward personal histories and connections beyond the palace walls.
