In this episode, we get a glimpse into the dynamic between Chiyuki and Ikuto, both playing a crucial role in supporting each other in their pursuit of their dreams, and this anime portrays it very well. The previous episode focused on Chiyuki, and in this one, it's Ikuto who faces new obstacles. It's common in this type of anime to have a "mentor" who doesn't approve of their student from the start and presents themselves as the first hurdle to overcome, but I've never been a fan of equating "toughness" with rudeness. The tense moments truly reflect the harsh realities of the fashion and modeling world. Excellent work there.

Ikuto is such a sweetheart 🥺 And Chiyuki has charm too~😊 Their symbiotic relationship is quite interesting. Neither of them could’ve gotten their foot in the door without each other. But even then, it’s not a cakewalk: this fashion world doesn’t wanna accept them so easily. This ep’s marks the start of Ikuto’s journey as a designer: An abrasive mentor, a tricky job, and a HUGE CHALLENGE right out of the gate! His determination despite the odds is really inspiring~ The PRESSURE is ON, and the stakes for our characters by the end of the episode make me wanna cry for them tbh 😭

The narrative of this episode definitely highlights the profound emotions of every character, clearly portraying real world conflict, frustration, and the determination to grow. You can really feel the weight and meaning behind the dialogues they deliver, and the setting seamlessly captures the realistic aspects of the fashion industry. All in all, the story flow is truly fascinating.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off a premiere that established Chiyuki and Ikuto's individual aspirations and unlikely connection, episode 2 serves as the first real stress test — transitioning from setup to confrontation with the fashion world's demands. At just episode 2 of 12, this is foundational groundwork, calibrating viewer expectations for the level of difficulty these characters will face throughout the season. It sets the trajectory for their growth arcs by making the stakes and obstacles concrete early.
