The department head is still the absolute worst part of this show and seeing him smirk while Ryouhei was clearly struggling with his guilt makes you want to reach through the screen

I really felt for Rena this time because even though their relationship started for all the wrong reasons she seems so genuine and seeing Ryouhei finally confront how terrible he was being to her felt like a huge turning point for his character and I just hope he actually makes it up to her instead of just moping about it

That title really says it all, because Ryouhei finally admitted to himself that he treated Rena like a game piece instead of a person

Rena looked so hurt during that flashback and it makes you want to smack Ryouhei for ever going along with his boss and his stupid little bets
ami_mizuno's avatar

I feel so bad for Rena because the way Ryouhei treated her early on was actually trash and seeing him finally realize he was being a jerk made this episode feel different
satori_sensei's avatar

The animation was okay, but the writing with the boss is starting to get a bit repetitive for my taste and I just want more Rena

You really feel the tension when they are at the bar and Ryouhei realizes he has no idea how to handle his feelings while the boss is hovering over them

It sucks that Ryouhei is still entertaining that creep of a boss after everything he saw in Rena tonight and he needs to grow a spine and defend her

Rena looked stunning when she showed up for the drink and the way she speaks so freely now is such a massive change from how she acts at the office

I was surprised by how much I liked the dialogue between Rena and Ryouhei during their date because it felt a lot more natural than most of these shows and seeing her hair down really changed the whole vibe for me but Ryouhei acting like a jerk to his boss at the end almost ruined the mood for me

That scene at the end where Ryouhei tries to act tough in front of the department head was so frustrating because you know he actually cares about her

The department head is so annoying, but I guess he serves his purpose as the villain of the office and Rena looked great tonight though

My heart went out to Rena when she started talking about her feelings at the bar and I just want Ryouhei to stop listening to his boss and be real with her
popthatcorn14's avatar

You can tell Ryouhei is actually falling for her and it makes the whole thing with the boss feel even worse because Rena deserves better than being a bet
megurine_marvel_496's avatar
megurine_marvel_496
I was so happy when Rena finally opened up and showed her real self because that contrast with her office look is huge and it makes their dynamic feel way more genuine

I really think this show is mocking how every other adult cartoon thinks being gross or violent is the only way to be edgy, but here it actually works because the timing is so perfect. Tom coughing up blood while trying to sing and then getting it all over that old man was legitimately hard to watch and yet I couldn't stop laughing at the absurdity

The part where they all turned their heads at the exact same time during the fight felt so weirdly real and funny

Preston losing his mind over a balaclava was the funniest thing this week and the way he screamed for his bawmah was so loud

The animation of the swim trunks bubbling up in the water was way too accurate and it made me feel gross just looking at the screen

My stomach actually hurts from laughing when they just sat back in that nasty hot tub water with all the gunk floating in it and acted like it was totally fine

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following Episode 6's focus on workplace pressures bleeding into Rena and Ryouhei's relationship, Episode 7 escalates the emotional stakes with a title that signals a turning point — 'I Lied' implies something unspoken is finally surfacing. Positioned as the penultimate episode, this installment functions as the season's emotional climax, laying the groundwork for Episode 8, 'It Was Serious,' which appears poised to deliver resolutions to the tension built here.
