We finally have the answer to those flashbacks that Monica had in prior episodes. I really like this, even though I know this will be a minor plotline, but the immense growth potential that Monica would have is something I want to witness. The hook is here, I just hope Monica and the writers would execute it well later down the line. Even so, after seeing it, I understand how Bernie felt on that cloudy/rainy scene. But at the same time, as we all know, Monica isn't the best at communication. So honestly, I don't know how this plotline will end like.

It is always so funny to hear Damien Haas' voice for every minor role in this show! This episode focuses on Monica's past and her poor interpersonal relationships. I'm excited to see how this arc will affect her growth!

Today’s episode definitely slows things down to focus on the normal daily school life stuff. The writing is a pure character history while smoothly introducing new faces, and luckily, that signature nervous energy and relatable anxiety make the slower pace totally bearable.

There are two characters introduced in this episode, one is a lovable idiot and the other is a pure personification of the word idiot. This episode revealed why Monica hesitated in calling Lana a friend the first time. I like how the episode smoothly transitions from a heavy scene to a lighter one through the well-timed use of comedy, the OST and Monica's adorable reaction.

Episode 10 shows strong growth for Monica. At the beginning of the episode, kinda shows how Monica got her trauma from her ex-friend, and later tries to be brave for her upcoming tournament

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 10 of 13, this installment functions as a critical bridge between Monica's escalating responsibilities at Serendia Academy and the approaching chess tournament that will test everything she's built. Episode 9 pushed Monica deeper into the tension between her mission and her secrets, and this episode responds by grounding her story in personal history before the final stretch. It's a deliberate setup episode, the show is positioning its emotional pieces for the climactic three-episode run.
