In all honesty, Kagari is what keeps the episode from being lackluster. The training arc with Kotarou is reduced to mere tidbits of scenes, rather than full fledged growth. Still, the episode somewhat redeemed itself with the final segment that involved some action - which I found to be a bit underwhelming and poor in writing.
