I usually love the absolute mess that this show is, but focusing so much on Maa-kun this time around really dragged the energy down for me. I get they wanted to flesh him out after Ebichu had her moment last episode, but he is just a creep without the charm of the Office Lady and her awful boyfriend to balance him out.

The shift to Maa-kun was kind of a letdown because he is just not as funny as the main trio and watching him pine over a hamster for ten minutes straight felt like a slog that lacked the usual bite

I really did not need an entire episode about Maa-kun and his weird obsession with Ebichu and it felt way slower than the usual chaos and I missed the Office Lady yelling at her terrible boyfriend

Ebichu being her usual loud self was the only thing keeping this episode together, because Maa-kun is just too much of a creep to carry a whole story by himself.

I did not expect them to give the boyfriend actual depth but here we are and it is just as gross as you would expect from this show and Maa-kun is such a loser but seeing his internal monologue about Ebichu was a trip and it really highlights how weird his life is while the office lady just deals with his nonsense every day

Ebichu just keeps being a housekeeping legend while her owner and Maa-kun are just total messes and the contrast in their personalities is always funny

Why is Maa-kun like this and why am I still watching a show about a guy who is catching feelings for a talking hamster who just wants ice cream

Maa-kun having a crush on a hamster is so unhinged and he is such a disaster of a person

The humor was a bit slower today and focusing on Maa-kun feels like a drag compared to when Ebichu is just causing total chaos for her master

Maa-kun is actually losing it and seeing a hamster like that is so uncomfortable but it fits his character perfectly

That scene where Maa-kun is just staring at Ebichu made me laugh because he is so pathetic and his brain is just totally gone at this point

Exploring Maa-kun's perspective for once was a weird choice, but he is still a terrible person and the trashy vibes are just consistent.

I felt so weird watching Maa-kun try to handle his actual feelings for Ebichu because he is usually just such a bum and this shift was unexpected

Maa-kun is definitely the weakest link in this show and giving him center stage just highlighted how gross his obsession is and the episode felt totally empty compared to the usual chaos

My biggest issue with this one is how it slows everything down just to show us Maa-kun's perspective when his feelings for the hamster are the worst part of the show and nothing funny even happened to balance out the weirdness of it all and it just feels like they ran out of ideas for actual jokes in this one

It felt like a waste of time since the plot did not move at all and it just focused on Maa-kun being creepy about the hamster and nobody really asked for this backstory right now

I really do not get why Maa-kun acts like this toward a literal hamster and watching him pine over Ebichu for ten minutes made me want to skip half the episode because nothing actually happened

Maa-kun having a whole episode for his weird hamster crush is just uncomfortable and you want more of the office lady and her boyfriend being a mess instead of this filler about a guy liking a pet

Sometimes the show needs a breather and seeing Maa-kun fail at life is still pretty funny in that specific absurdist way even if it is not the best episode ever

Nothing worse than a comedy that forgets to be funny and this whole segment was just a bunch of scenes that did not lead to any payoff or good jokes

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off Episode 9, 'Ebichu's in Heat,' which put Ebichu's own romantic impulses under the spotlight, Episode 10 pivots to Maa-kun's perspective, developing his character beyond his usual supporting role. This back-to-back character focus builds out the central relationship web in a way that feels deliberate rather than episodic filler. Episode 11, 'What Soap Bubbles Men Are!', continues mining these tangled dynamics, so Episode 10 functions as a connective beat in a loosely threaded mid-season stretch.
