It always feels good to rewatch certain episodes. But in this case really it's solely for the animation. Getting analytical for OPM has always been difficult as it portrays an entirely different vibe to other anime.

For this episode itself it's when it's really clear the difference between Saitama and Genos. I think the conversation in this episode is very good, it felt real in a sense, in a good way.

Genos went all out with maximum destructive firepower, but Saitama merely showing a fraction of his real power with that Death punch literally blew away a whole mountain range without even touching him. Genos's face of absolute terror was chills. Madhouse again flexed their budget in this episode.

This episode has 2 parts. First, Saitama takes the exam with Genos and really shows off his strength except the IQ. Second, Saitama vs Genos. This really shows Saitama is just playing around when he fights. If he got serious, the episode wouldn’t last long. Overall, action and comedy are well balanced, and it’s worth it since we see Genos development

This episode does a good job of explaining the Hero Association and helps add a bit to the world. The visuals during the battle are stunning, and I get more and more impressed with each episode I watch. I'm glad we're getting some more info about the world of heroes and monsters.

Another masterclass of animation and style! As Saitama and Genos apply to become professional heroes, we're treated to a visual spectacle as we get a glimpse of a slightly more serious Saitama. We also get some great character interactions between this unlikely pair.

This episode is incredible. We now get to see the ranking system of the Hero Association and how it works. We finally get to have a glimpse of the overpowered punch by our Bald Superhero for fun when they spar with his mechanical sidekick.

This episode shifts tone a bit with the aftermath. The crowd reaction and how Saitama handles it adds more depth than expected. Not as flashy, but important.

Another perfectly paced and highly entertaining episode! I lovedd the hero test plot on the first half of the episode there! Gives us a bit of depth to the world building and how the hero system actually works. And that animation during Genos’ spar was actually phenomenal!! Everything looked so crisp✨

Incredible episode! The world building with the Hero Association rankings is so engaging. The sparring match between Saitama and Genos featured some of the best animation I've ever seen. Perfect pacing and top-tier character writing. Peak OPM! 10/10.

Garou at the center of the action. After taking down King the Ripper and saving Tareo, Garou finds himself facing even greater threats, including the Dragon‑level monster Overgrown Pochi. The episode balances brutal combat with Garou’s evolving role as protector.

The episode satirizes institutional systems, showing how paperwork and perception can outweigh actual ability. This marks the beginning of Saitama’s official journey as a “professional hero,” while also setting up tension between his true power and society’s perception.

This episode definitely proved why Saitama is the best. Saitama's laidback and nonchalant character makes this episode even more satisfying, showcasing just how strong he actually is.

This episode is a pure fun, watching Saitama destroy the Hero Association physical exam and seeing Saitama in those ridiculous speedos during the test, only to break every record, is the ultimate flex

Episode 5 will be a very iconic episode. From the first time I watched it, I was completely amazed by the fight in this episode. Saitama’s strength is shown very clearly. The animation is also highly detailed and visually impressive.

Saitama vs. Genos? Pure hype. Animation quality god-tier. Fight choreography: orgasmic. Comedy hits hard. Peak fiction. No contest.

EPISODE CONTEXT

After the previous episode established the Hero Association and pushed Saitama and Genos toward official registration, Episode 5 delivers on that setup by throwing them into the certification gauntlet itself. Sitting just before the season's midpoint, this is a critical worldbuilding episode that transitions Saitama from anonymous overpowered loner to a recognized player within the hero hierarchy. It lays essential groundwork for the institutional politics and ranking systems that will define the conflicts and comedy of the season's back half.
