My only complaint is that they really dragged out the staring matches in the dinosaur fight and the pacing needed to move a bit faster so Yamato could show up sooner

Yamato just showed up and dropped a Thunder Bagua like a total pro and that reveal at the end is wild because Kaido having a kid with that energy is a huge curveball

It was so funny watching Ulti headbutt Luffy into next week because her dynamic with Page One is hilarious and she really forced Luffy to consider using Gear Fourth before that masked guy stepped in

everyone is going to be talking about kaido's son being a total oden follower because it just turned the whole mission on its head

I honestly didn't think anyone else would know kaido's signature move so seeing the masked guy use thunder bagua caught me completely off guard

I can not believe Kaido has a kid and he just showed up and smacked Ulti across the room with that mace

Orochi is the most pathetic villain ever and seeing him panic because of the samurai while he hides behind Kaido just makes me want to see him get crushed already

page one and ulti have such a weird sibling dynamic and seeing them turn into full dinosaurs was the coolest visual in the castle corridors

usopp and chopper crying in that tank while big mom chases them is easily the funniest part of the raid so far and they are barely hanging on

I actually jumped when luffy and ulti smashed their heads together because that shockwave looked so painful and she is way tougher than I thought

The pacing was a bit slow with all those flashbacks, but hearing saori hayami as yamato made the wait worth it in the end

it was hard to watch kanjuro drag momo across the floor and orochi laughing about the execution made the whole scene feel so desperate

Luffy really shouldn't be struggling this much against ulti, and the way they reused scenes from the last episode to drag out the runtime felt pretty cheap

Luffy just introduces himself as the future King of the Pirates to two of the strongest enemies in the building and his lack of fear is always the best thing

I still can't get over Yamato just dropping in and knocking Ulti out like it was nothing and using Kaido's own move was such a bold way to save Luffy

It felt like that headbutt struggle went on forever but the way they animated those dinosaur forms made it easier to watch while waiting for the reveal

The way the animators handled that Thunder Bagua was incredible and the impact felt so heavy when it connected with Ulti's head after that long fight with Luffy

Yamato coming in with that Thunder Bagua was intense and seeing the mask finally come off lived up to the massive anticipation for Kaido's son

When Ulti transformed into that Pachycephalosaurus, I wasn't expecting her to be such a menace! Her using Haki with her headbutt makes her seriously terrifying, even for Luffy, and it makes me wonder how he's gonna overcome someone this powerful with just brute strength.

The malice in the room when Kaido looked at Momonosuke felt suffocating and the contrast between Orochi's panic and Kaido's silence made the scene so much more intense

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep within the Wano Country arc's Onigashima raid, Episode 990 follows the alliance's infiltration efforts from Episode 989 and escalates the conflict by introducing a major new player in Kaido's son, shifting battlefield dynamics significantly. This episode serves as a pivotal bridge, transforming the raid from coordinated stealth into open warfare. It directly sets up Episode 991, which explores the fallout of this introduction and its implications for Luffy's strategy against the Beast Pirates.
