The animation of the dancing was a bit repetitive and felt like it was dragging on too long even though the emotional weight of Roger dying was still really strong

Kaido showing up as that gigantic dragon over the flower capital really hammered home for me just how impossible Oden's position was. My stomach dropped seeing that, knowing he had to choose between his family and his people or continuing his fight, and it made his sacrifice feel so much heavier.

The sight of Kaido as a giant blue dragon in the sky was terrifying and it shows why Oden had to stop fighting to save the capital from getting blasted

I was so ready for Oden to just end Orochi and then that old man pops up with the barrier fruit and ruins everything which is just pure frustration and then seeing Oden dance like a clown for five years while Wano falls apart is actually heartbreaking even if he thinks it's the only way to save everyone from those poisoned arrows

Seeing all the young versions of the future legends at Loguetown was such a trip, especially since we know how big of a deal they all become later on in the story

The Scabbards begging Oden for an explanation was a tough watch, because you could tell they still wanted to believe in him despite the ridiculous dancing and the public disgrace

It is honestly crazy that Oden had to find out about Roger's death from a newspaper, while he was in the middle of that humiliating deal, and then seeing the flashback of Roger talking to Whitebeard about the Will of D made everything feel so much bigger and more tragic because Oden is just stuck there dancing while the whole world is changing forever

Higurashi using the clone fruit to look like Oden's father was a low blow and it really explains how they managed to steal the throne from under everyone's noses for so long

It is so painful to see Oden dancing naked in the street for five years and it makes no sense why he would let Orochi win like this

Roger going out with that smile while Oden was crying on the beach really got to me because it shows how much they both sacrificed for a future they won't even see

I really thought Oden was going to end Orochi right then and there but that barrier fruit is such a cheat and seeing Oden get blocked like that was so annoying

My eyes were glued to the screen during the Loguetown scene and seeing young Shanks crying like that really got to me

Oden actually stayed naked and dancing in the streets for five years just because of some deal with that snake Orochi and it seriously hurt to watch the citizens turn their backs on him

I was so hyped when Oden pulled out his swords, but seeing him forced into that deal just to stop the poisoned arrows made me want to scream at Orochi

Watching Oden dance naked in the rain for five years while the factories ruined the sky was so depressing and nobody even knew why he did it

Roger went out like a total legend and that smile he had on the scaffold while starting the pirate era was the coolest thing in the world

I actually felt sick when those townspeople started throwing rocks at Oden and calling him a fool while he was just trying to keep them alive

Those cameos of the younger legends in the crowd made my day, because it really connects the dots back to Loguetown.

Oden must have been so confused and hurt when that old lady pulled the Sukiyaki trick; I felt genuinely disgusted by the Kurozumi clan doing something so blatantly cruel just to screw with his emotions. It really solidifies for me just how evil they are, going for such a personal and vile attack.

The random guy in the crowd who yelled at Roger about the treasure is the one who really started the whole pirate era by himself

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following Episode 969's escalation of Oden's direct confrontation with Orochi's treachery, Episode 970 delivers the emotional fallout and pivotal consequences of those decisions, serving as a crucial climax within the Wano flashback arc. This episode bridges Oden's personal saga with the broader One Piece mythology, connecting events in Wano to the dawn of a new era across the world. It sets the stage for the subsequent episodes to explore how Wano's fate was sealed and the lasting ripple effects that reach into the present-day conflict.
