That silent vow with the crew raising their fists was such a powerful answer to Vivi's plea and you can tell they are ready to go to war for her even if the desert is trying to kill them

I really liked the contrast between the funny disguise scenes and the dark reality of the drought and seeing that old man cry over his ruined dreams really shows how much the drought has broken people

Chopper getting stuck in that weapon wagon was terrifying because he saw how serious the rebels are about this fight and his little reindeer nose couldn't even handle all the perfume in the city

Sanji picking out those dancer outfits for Nami and Vivi was such a classic move and then he just passes out when he sees them and meanwhile Luffy is literally miles away walking the wrong way

Seeing all those guns and weapons in the rebel camp really made the civil war feel real and Vivi begging for help at the end was such a heavy moment

Poor old Badwan, my heart genuinely ached watching him tend his plants, completely unaware his simple desire to see them flourish was actively draining water from others. The dance powder's true nature is so insidious; it's a gut punch realizing how easily good intentions can be twisted into something so destructive on a massive scale.

Luffy really just ate some random powder and caused a massive rainstorm by accident while the rest of the crew is trying so hard to be stealthy and he is just out there being a chaotic mess

The way the show explains how the dance powder works is actually pretty dark since it just steals rain from people nearby, and that explains why the kingdom is so divided right now and I felt so bad for the king getting blamed for something that is clearly a huge setup and the tension in the rebel camp with Kohza was intense

Luffy finding that house with the illegal rain powder was actually really sad because the old man was just trying to save a plant and it shows how desperate everyone is

Knowing Mr 3 is already in the city makes the whole situation in Nanohana feel so much more tense and dangerous

Watching Luffy eat rice balls and walk in the wrong direction while the rest of the crew is worrying about Sandora Lizards is the most Luffy thing ever

It was scary seeing how many guns the rebels have in their hidden camp, and Vivi bowing to the crew really shows she knows how much she is asking

That green smoke turning into a fake rainstorm really showed how desperate things are getting if people are risking a death sentence just to water some dead plants

Those Alabasta dancer outfits on Nami and Vivi looked great and Sanji was losing his mind while Zoro just looked like some random desert bandit

I was laughing so much at Luffy being lost in the dunes and then finding that old guy but the story about the dance powder actually felt really heavy, like the world government just lets people suffer to keep order and it makes sense why the rebellion is so angry at the king even if he didn't do anything wrong

It is hard not to feel bad for the Alabasta people after learning how that Dance Powder stole rain from other places and turned the whole country against the king

That camel Eyelash is already a legend for saving Chopper from the rebel camp and his attitude is just too funny compared to the serious war stuff

I really liked seeing the crew get to Alabasta and my heart broke for that old man Badwan when Luffy accidentally burned all his rain powder

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off the Drum Island arc and Chopper's recruitment, this episode marks the true beginning of the Alabasta arc — one of One Piece's most celebrated early sagas. It transitions the crew from the emotional highs of their previous adventure into the politically charged desert landscape where Vivi's stakes become the crew's stakes. Everything introduced here — the kingdom's drought, the rebel army, the mysterious powder — lays critical groundwork for the escalating conflicts ahead.
