Queen has such a weirdly menacing energy, and the way he talks makes him feel much more dangerous than a typical big brute

I definitely didn't expect King to sound like a businessman but his calm voice makes him feel way more intimidating than Queen who just seems like a loud chaotic mess

King sounds so professional and it really threw me off at first but the voice actor fits the design perfectly and seeing him and Queen bully Jack was funny

I got chills when Luffy and Kid were staring each other down in that cell and it makes me want to see them team up against Kaido

The animation had some shaky moments when Kinemon was on screen, but the actual sword fight between Ashura Doji and Inuarashi looked great and the impact of their blades felt heavy, and it was a solid way to end the first act of Wano with Luffy and Kid finally crossing paths in prison while promising to take down Kaido

Ashura Doji is a beast for keeping up with Inuarashi and it really shows how strong the samurai in Wano are compared to the people we saw in earlier arcs

Those frames of Kinemon and Inuarashi looked really rough during the clash and it felt like the quality dipped for a second there but the action between Dogstorm and Shutenmaru was still cool

The music they used when Sanji started gathering people for the operation was so catchy and it made the whole planning phase feel much more exciting than usual

I felt so much hype watching Shutenmaru trade blows with Dogstorm and it makes me wonder what happens if Sulong comes out

Those Wano music tracks hitting while the crew spreads the message and works the plan in secret makes the whole atmosphere feel very authentic to the setting

I was really surprised by King and his voice, since it sounds so professional and calm instead of being some loud brute like most subordinates. Seeing him and Queen bickering gave them so much personality right away and I loved that. The whole sequence in the prison with Kid and Luffy was great too, because their rivalry is just beginning to heat up

Sanji selling noodles just to find allies is such a classic move and Nami and Shinobu sneaking around shows how much work is going into this rebellion behind the scenes

The instant that Kozuki crest appeared on the secret messages, my heart genuinely swelled with hope for everyone in Wano. It's wild to think how much that symbol means to them, a sign that the old ways, and freedom, aren't completely dead yet, and I can't wait to see the impact this has.

It was cool to see Luffy and Kid together in the mines, because they are both clearly planning something big to get out of those sea prism stone cuffs

Shutenmaru is such a complicated guy and you can tell he still has a lot of resentment toward the Kozuki clan for leaving everyone behind for twenty years

That secret message being passed around the capital is making me nervous because half the people seem like they might snitch to Orochi and ruin the whole plan before it even starts

The music in Wano is honestly so good and it makes every scene feel more intense even when it is just people talking about the secret symbols or the distribution plan

Queen sounds like he could absolutely destroy anyone, while King has that calm businessman voice that is actually way scarier than a loud guy
shinigami_shadow's avatar

The fight between Shutenmaru and Dogstorm looked cool and snappy but it is hard to care about them when the main plot feels like it is moving so slowly

I loved finally hearing King and Queen speak and Queen sounds exactly like a monster from hell while King is weirdly professional

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off Episode 917's wider look at global upheaval and factional reactions, Episode 918 narrows the lens back to Wano's internal preparations, grounding the story in the alliance's on-the-ground efforts to consolidate power against Kaido. It serves as a critical connective episode between the early Wano setup and the escalating rebellion, deepening character dynamics — particularly around Ashura Doji's reluctance — that will pay off in later confrontations. The covert operations introduced here lay essential groundwork for the conflict ahead.
