How did a random gifter like Batman just block a haki punch from Luffy when he is a literal emperor of the sea now

Kiku finally pulling out that sword and showing she can actually fight was cool, even if the reveal felt a bit weird after seeing her act so helpless earlier

I lost my mind when that lion just straight up punched Holdem in the junk while he was trying to look all tough and cool

Gazelle-man's extended sprint had me legit confused, like, was he ever gonna stop? I just couldn't shake the feeling that five whole minutes of just running and heavy breathing totally killed the momentum they were building, and it made me zone out a bit.

I was enjoying the start of Wano, but seeing a random fodder pirate block a haki punch from Luffy is just ridiculous. I know the animation for that part looked decent, but it makes zero sense for him to struggle after everything he did in Whole Cake. The pacing with Gazelleman was also pretty rough to sit through

Holdem has a literal lion for a stomach that he keeps hitting and the designs for these beast pirates are honestly some of the strangest things Oda has ever come up with

It is cool to see more of the Beast Pirates, but that Batman character should not be giving Luffy any trouble at all after he beat a commander

Luffy getting so mad about Otama being taken really showed how much he cares already and that punch he threw at Batman looked incredible even if the fight felt a bit weird for his power level

Okay, but did that gazelle guy *really* have to just chill against the wall for what felt like an entire minute? I was seriously ready to fast forward, my patience was running thin with the pacing already.

Gazelleman, buddy, I know you were trying your best, but that endless run with a crying Tama had me practically shouting at my TV for some kind of progress. It felt like an eternity, and I just wanted them to get to safety already, feeling so frustrated with how much it dragged on!

The way Otama got snatched up by that bat guy while everyone was just standing around was frustrating to watch and it makes you want to see Luffy wreck the whole town

Everything with Gazelleman and that interrogation took way too long and I wish the show would just get to the big fights instead of dragging out these small moments

Luffy using his conqueror haki to clear out those guards was the only part that felt right after that weird fight with the bat man earlier

I actually had to double check my screen when that Batman guy blocked Luffy because it felt so out of place for someone that weak to hold his own. It really took me out of the moment even though the drawing and colors looked nice. Between that and the constant shots of people running and gasping, the whole episode just felt way too slow.

I knew Okiku was hiding something but seeing her actually use a sword was great and she looks so much like Robin but with her own style of fighting

The lion on that guys stomach punching him in the balls was the funniest thing in the whole show and I honestly did not expect that to happen during such a serious moment

The animation on that bat pirate fight was actually pretty smooth and yet it still feels wrong to see Luffy getting blocked by some random headliner underling
gladion_352's avatar

The animation for the big hawk attack looked pretty good but the fact that the scene shouldn't have been happening in the first place because of the power scaling issues ruined it

I really hated seeing Holdem treat Tama like that and the way he talked to her made me so mad but seeing Luffy use his conquerors haki at the end made the wait worth it

Luffy being so protective of Tama because she reminds him of Ace really hits me hard, but the pacing in this episode felt a bit sluggish at times. I wasn't a fan of how long it took Gazelleman to just run and pant against a wall when we could have been getting more of the actual town infiltration instead

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming directly off Episode 900's inciting kidnapping, this episode escalates the Wano Country arc by thrusting Luffy and Zoro into the heart of enemy-controlled territory, expanding the scope of threats they'll face under Kaido's regime. It functions as a critical bridge episode, introducing key players and power dynamics within Bakura Town that will define the arc's early conflicts. The stage is set for immediate confrontation in the following episode, where a formidable new adversary enters the picture.
