Luffy looks so rough being that skinny from hunger and it hurts to see him like that because he still won't eat anything except what Sanji makes since their bond is on another level

I lost it when Sanji kicked Bobbin for trying to touch that bento box and he says he gave up on the crew but his body still moves for Luffy because that bento had all their favorites

I can't believe Sanji kicked Bobbin for trying to touch that bento and it makes me so happy he still remembers what everyone likes to eat even when he is this stressed out

I was actually tearing up when I saw Sanji making that bento because he put meat in there for Luffy and all the other things his friends like without even thinking about it and he is trying to act like he is saying goodbye but his heart clearly isn't in it and he just wants to go back to his real family on the ship

Big Mom is actually terrifying for what she has planned for the Vinsmoke family and her monologue makes you feel like she is on a completely different level than other villains

Sanji lunging to protect that bento from Bobbin really made me cheer for him, like, my gut just knew his loyalty to his friends and their hunger totally comes before any forced marriage or family drama. It was such a powerful moment, showing where his true heart still lies.

It was so hard to watch Sanji realize what he was doing, because his heart clearly belongs with the Straw Hats no matter how much he tries to hide it

Luffy, dude, seeing him just waste away like that, all because he swore he'd only eat Sanji's cooking? It absolutely killed me, I could feel his desperate determination from here. My guy has always been loyal, but this really showed me just how deep his faith in his nakama runs, no matter what.

Brook getting tossed around like a plaything by Big Mom was seriously creepy, like, it made me wonder if she's ever truly seen anyone as more than a possession. I know she's a Yonko, but that total disregard for him, even as a powerful opponent, is what really got to me.

It really got to me that Sanji put every single crew member's favorite food in that bento while he was trying to convince himself he was leaving for good

Big Mom talking about her kids like they owe her for being born is the most twisted thing and it makes me hate her so much

It was so good to see Sanji cook for the crew again even if it was just a bento he thinks is his last meal for them. It shows he is still a Straw Hat at heart and I was so worried about Luffy looking like a zombie from hunger. Big Mom is honestly terrifying for planning a whole massacre during a wedding party.

Sanji subconsciously cooking for the whole crew even though he thinks he can never go back was such a gut punch

The pacing felt a bit slow tonight and they spent a long time on the bento ingredients. Big Mom talking about killing the Vinsmokes was the only part with real tension

I saw Sanji putting all the favorites in that bento and it really got to me. He says he is leaving but he still knows exactly what food makes his friends happy

You see Luffy just sitting there starving and he still won't eat anything else. That loyalty is something else and it makes the wait for Sanji feel so heavy

Some people call these episodes slow, but seeing the internal struggle Sanji is going through makes the eventual reunion feel like it is going to mean so much more

Big Mom is definitely a monster for what she is planning but the episode dragged a lot. You just want Sanji to finally reach Luffy and give him the food already

You really feel for Luffy when he is struggling to even stand up but still trying to fight off those random soldiers

Luffy's stubbornness to keep his promise to Sanji, even to the point of starving himself, genuinely made my stomach clench. It's typical of him to go to such extremes for his friends, but watching him slowly waste away for someone who hurt him felt like a punch to the gut.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep in the Whole Cake Island arc, Episode 822 follows the escalating infiltration and emotional fractures explored in Episode 821, pushing Sanji's personal crisis toward a turning point. This is the culmination of episodes of buildup around Sanji's impossible position between his crew and his family's demands. It sets the stage for the arc's shift from internal conflict toward the explosive confrontations that define the back half of Whole Cake Island.
