The garchu custom was the only thing keeping this episode from being way too depressing after that betrayal

I was really starting to like Pekoms because seeing him get so emotional over the Minks surviving was actually really touching, but then Bege just shot him in the back and it was so brutal and it makes sense why they call them the Worst Generation, because that guy has no soul and now Sanji is caught in the middle of all this mess

Black Leg trying to flirt with every Mink in sight while he is literally being hunted by an Emperor is just so like him

Standing his ground against those Big Mom pirates shows how much Sanji cares about the crew even with his past catching up to him

I thought Pekoms showing respect for the Straw Hats after they saved his home was a great moment and then Bege just shoots him in the back without hesitating

Bege is actually a monster for shooting Pekoms like that when the guy was just crying over his home being saved

I cannot believe Bege gunned down his own crewmate in cold blood just because Pekoms wanted to show the Straw Hats some mercy

The note Sanji left about coming back makes the whole situation with Big Mom feel so much more ominous

It really caught me off guard how fast things went from Sanji enjoying the garchu greeting to Bege showing up and ruining the whole party

Capone really lives up to that worst generation title with how cold he treated everyone on the island

Seeing Pekoms break down and thank everyone was so sweet, but Bege had to go and ruin it by being a complete snake

I did not expect that name drop to carry so much weight and it makes Sanji leaving the crew feel way more personal than just a pirate business deal

I was not expecting Bege to be that cold towards Pekoms, but it really shows how scary the Big Mom pirates are compared to what we've seen before and seeing Sanji make that choice and leave everyone behind is so painful, and Nami's reaction was just the icing on the cake and the pacing felt a bit slow but the drama was there

Watching Brook try to distract the Mink children while the others were dealing with the aftermath of the attack was a sweet touch and it made the island feel more alive

That moment when Bege turned on Pekoms was a massive shock and he is way more ruthless than he looked at Sabaody. This arc is getting dark and Sanji is in so much trouble right now

Pekoms actually showing some gratitude to the Straw Hats for saving Zou made me like him more and that makes his fate at the hands of Bege even more brutal

Bege shooting his own comrade for having a heart shows just how scary the Big Mom pirates are, especially with the way everyone seems to fear her

I spent the whole time wondering why Sanji looked so stressed out until the Vinsmoke name finally dropped, and it honestly recontextualizes so many of his weird behaviors from way back in Alabasta. The way the episode shifted from goofy Mink interactions to the sheer brutality of Capone Bege shooting his own partner really caught me off guard tonight.

Capone shooting Pekoms in the back was a cold move and it shows exactly what kind of snakes are working for the Emperors

The animation is a bit hit or miss in this one, and you can tell they are stretching the manga chapters to keep the show from catching up too fast.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the harrowing reveal of Jack's assault on Zou and the Mink Tribe's resilience, this episode redirects the narrative lens toward Sanji's mysterious ties to the Big Mom Pirates—a thread that will become the driving force of the next major arc. It serves as a critical bridge between the Zou exploration and the Whole Cake Island saga, establishing the emotional and political stakes the crew will face. Everything here is foundational setup for the alliance decisions and crew separation that define the episodes ahead.
