My brain was hurting from all the filler recap and then they dropped that massive elephant reveal and I forgot why I was even mad

the island being a massive living elephant is the coolest thing Oda has done in years and it makes me wonder how they even build a city on top of a moving animal

An elephant that has been walking for a millennium with a city on its back is exactly why the scope of this world is so fun and creative

I really hated sitting through Barto just talking about the past for half the time and the recap lasted so long that it completely killed the excitement of finally reaching a new island

The elephant island is such a wild concept and seeing the crew finally reach the leg of the beast makes the world feel massive

Reaching the foot of the giant elephant makes the mystery of the minks feel way more real after all the waiting

Weevil being the son of Whitebeard is such a weird plot point, but he seems strong enough to cause some real trouble for the former crew

You spend half the episode watching old scenes you already saw but the reveal of a whole civilization living on a moving animal is worth the wait

Edward Weevil showing up looking like that, I was totally caught off guard by his beastly appearance. And then hearing he's supposedly Whitebeard's son just messes with my head, making me wonder if there's any truth to that wild claim at all.

That Bartolomeo, I swear, his fanboy energy is off the charts recounting the crew's whole history, and yeah, it was funny for a bit. But my main thought was just, 'Get on with it, dude, I wanna see that giant elephant already!' It felt like such a long wait before we finally got to Zou.

I think that giant elephant looks so cool and I want to know how it stays alive for a thousand years without sinking into the ocean

I feel like the pacing is really dragging with all these flashbacks but that ending shot of the giant elephant made up for it, and seeing an entire island on the back of a living creature that just walks through the sea is some of the coolest world building, and the mystery of the minks and the new warlord is killing me and I want to see them all meet up

The pacing was so bad today and they spent half the time showing old scenes with weird looking art and it felt like a total waste of an episode

I cannot believe the island is actually a giant elephant and the scale of Zunesha is just massive

The animation for the recap scenes looked really rough and it felt like such a waste of time when there is a whole new island right there

I expected way more than a clip show and that really annoyed me but the bit with Kizaru talking about Weevil being strong like Whitebeard was actually crazy

I think Barto is hilarious but that recap was way too long for a first episode of a new arc and I just wanted to see the big elephant already

seeing Edward Weevil show up and claiming he is Whitebeard son is such a wild twist since he looks nothing like him

My heart melted when they showed the flashback of the crew joining and it was a nice reminder of how far Luffy has come since the very beginning

I honestly love how much Bartolomeo looks up to the crew because his reaction to the Straw Hat stories makes the recap actually watchable, even if it dragged a bit. But the real highlight was definitely seeing that massive elephant looming over them. Finding out an entire civilization lives on its back is such a wild concept even for this show

EPISODE CONTEXT

Directly following the formation of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet and the conclusion of the Dressrosa saga, this episode serves as the critical bridge into the Zou arc, shifting focus from large-scale conflict to mystery and discovery. It establishes the crew's next destination while allowing the emotional fallout of Dressrosa to linger. Everything here is setup — the relationships reinforced and the destination teased will become foundational to the challenges awaiting the crew on the phantom island.
